Join our Map Expert Specifications team as a Geospatial Data Engineer, where you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of high-quality map design and production. This position sits at the intersection of technical expertise, design thinking, and documentation excellence, transforming complex mapping requirements into clear, actionable specifications that drive results.
Our team of specification designers, technical writers, and documentation specialists is dedicated to the end-to-end production of comprehensive and functional maps. We facilitate map design and define the standards for next-generation mapping solutions. Working at the intersection of clarity, accuracy, and usability, we ensure that every map communicates its purpose effectively, from initial concept through to final output. We blend deep domain expertise, structured design thinking, and meticulous attention to detail to deliver specifications and documentation that truly work.
What you'll do:
- Analyze TomTom maps requirements and translate them into clear, actionable specifications that align with customer use cases and technical constraints.
- Continuously explore user needs, emerging technologies, and evolving methodologies in the mapping domain.
- Identify problems during the specification process and propose effective, pragmatic solutions.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precision in documentation and capturing edge cases critical to our work.
- Collaborate seamlessly in cross-functional environments with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Value Stream Engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure specifications align with broader organizational goals.
What you'll need
- A good technical foundation in geospatial data.
- A research-oriented mindset and natural curiosity.
- Exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical concepts clearly through both written documentation and verbal exchanges with diverse audiences (from engineers to product managers).
- Strong analytical skills to translate requirements into actionable specifications.
- A collaborative nature with the ability to thrive in a cross-functional environment.
