What you’ll do
  • Design and build: craft high-quality, maintainable software that delivers a stellar navigation experience—covering new features, optimizations, and refactoring challenges.
  • Own your projects: take accountability for end-to-end delivery, from initial architecture decisions to deployment. Contribute to process improvements that boost team efficiency and product reliability.
  • Collaborate widely: work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, such as Product Managers and Program Managers, to ensure technical solutions align with real customer needs.
  • Mentor and lead: offer guidance to junior colleagues and help shape our hiring efforts. Inspire your teammates with thoughtful code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Champion best practices: drive operational excellence by ensuring code is well-tested, scalable, and meticulously documented.
Who you are
  • Experienced engineer: you have 3+ years of professional software development experience (less experience may be considered at an SE II level). You’re confident in at least one core discipline (e.g., back-end, mobile, or data engineering) and have a broad understanding of related fields.
  • Problem solver: you thrive on unraveling complex issues. You balance creativity with practicality, identifying when to adopt existing solutions or invent new ones.
  • Team player: you’re energized by working collaboratively. You’re as eager to learn from others as you are to share your insights.
  • Quality-focused: your code is logical, testable, efficient, and well-documented. You understand that operational excellence is crucial for products that need to perform flawlessly at scale.
  • Communicator: you present ideas clearly and confidently—whether advising peers, collaborating with your manager, or supporting product stakeholders.
Nice to have
  • Strong experience in Android development using Kotlin and/or Java
  • Background in building developer tools, SDKs, or libraries.
  • Experience with geospatial or routing algorithms.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, or other modern development practices.
  • Contributions to open-source or external developer communities.

We're the Navigation SDK team. We work on complex code to develop TomTom's Navigation Software Development Kit, integrating technologies provided by other Product Units and enabling our customers to easily build competitive navigation applications. Your code will also be at the heart of TomTom's navigation products like AmiGO, helping millions of people find their way in the world.
