The impact you'll make
- As an Engineering Director, you are accountable for optimizing the business impact of the software engineering teams in Taipei, which you manage directly and indirectly via other engineering managers reporting to you.
- Your organization is dedicated to developing high-quality cutting-edge solutions for our Asian customers that maximize the value and adoption of our location technology products and is aligned with the overall company vision.
- You foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages cross-functional and cross locational cooperation within the whole of TomTom. You show leadership by identifying opportunities and taking ownership of initiatives in and outside of your team's scope.
- You recruit and develop top talent, offering technical and career development guidance to engineers in Taipei.
- You manage 3rd parties under fixed price or outcome-based contracts to help scale up and down when needed.
What you'll need
- We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager with a history of leading larger product teams (25+ engineers), managing multiple engineering managers with a solid understanding of modern incremental and iterative software product development.
- You have a proven understanding of the business, the technology applied and the product. This will help you to assess the impact of what the teams deliver and take ownership for shaping the direction of the team and its systems in line with business objectives and strategy.
- You are highly empathetic, an excellent communicator, a true role model for leadership inputs and principles, and enjoy helping others to be successful just as much as having individual impact.
- You have sufficient technical skills from your background in software development. You mainly use these skills to identify, evaluate, and grow talent, and ensure the team is staffed well and moving in the right direction.
- Good understanding of the many unique engineering challenges in a continuously changing engineering landscape.
- Experience working in empowered Product Teams, in close collaboration with Product Management are a big plus
