What you'll do
- Team 400 Internship program is a fully immersive incubator experience within our Geospatial Engineering program. Over 10-12 weeks, our interns work alongside engineers helping us to automate the science of building maps. Our maps impact the lives of billions of people every day. This is not a coffee-run or bug-fix internship.
- You will be paid, and you will build on top of our technologies in a production environment
- Geospatial Engineering is a team in 5 countries and our priority is to automate how we receive, normalize, process and ingest geospatial sources into our data lake.
- We also look at big data problems that can benefit from machine learning and world-class system design.
- Everything is done via cloud based microservices and we are working on tools using these technologies:
- Microsoft Azure / Amazon Web Services
- Java
- Python
- PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Machine Learning
- JavaScript/HTML/React/CSS/React Native
- UI and UX design using tools like Figma and Photoshop / Illustrator
What you'll need
- Our ideal candidate will join a team of interns from around the world and will arrive at TomTom with these soft-skills:
- Organized with solid time management and ability to be on top of meeting invites and basic office communication tools like Slack and Outlook
- Basic Office skills with PowerPoint and Excel being key
- Technical writing basics so you can convey that cool thing you built and how it works inthe written word so others can understand
- Understanding of what Jira/Confluence and GitHub are and have watched a video or webinar on how to navigate all 3 before you start. We offer our mentors for all the tools & technologies above to help fill in the gaps.
- Above all, you have a natural curiosity for change andproblem-solvingg and a willingness to work with others to solve these tough problems in an environment that is inclusive and made up of people from all backgrounds.
- You must be able to leave ego on the table, be prepared to learn something new, and be brave enough to raise your hand if you think there’s a better way to approach a problem.
- You can participate in this program in person or remote, but you must be in the United States
