Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

The heart of a spacecraft lies in its propulsion system, and that's why we are dedicated to developing our cutting-edge Propulsion Systems ensuring the highest level of efficiency and reliability in our space endeavors.

Key responsibilities:

As a Propulsion Test Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and executing propulsion subsystem testing at component level and as integrated systems.

  • Developing and refining development and qualification plans, procedures, and sequences, as well as executing them.

  • Enforcing safety policies during test planning, and operations and leading risk assessment analyses and associated mitigation actions

  • Preparing test articles and test bench in collaboration with the MAIT and propulsion teams.

  • Performing troubleshooting to resolve hardware and test operations issues

  • Analyzing test data and preparing/conducting Test Readiness Reviews and Post Test Reviews.

  • Providing support to assembly, commissioning, operation, and continuous improvement of existing test benches.

What we would love to see from you:

  • Master’s degree in aerospace or related engineering field with over 1 year of design experience.

  • Familiarity with thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and control systems principles.

  • Experience working in a safety-critical environment.

  • Familiarity with data/control systems, specifically data acquisition hardware, and control software.

  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary troubleshooting.

  • Experience with supporting propulsion test campaigns such as hot-fire test campaigns is highly desirable.

  • Fluency in English.

  • Availability to our premises in Germany from time to time in the course of duties.

  • Ability to work equally well unsupervised or as part of a team

  • Strong organization and prioritization of tasks

  • Positive and flexible attitude to get the job done

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the business

  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with The Exploration Company’s core values of Commitment, Innovation, Trust, Quality, and Teamwork

  • Proficiency in German or French are an asset
