Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
Key Responsibilities
In your capacity as a Lead Advanced Manufacturing, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:
Lead the team in MAIT (Manufacturing Assembly Integration and Test) who is involved in any manufacturing operations, including Additive manufacturing, post processing of printed parts, machining activities, special manufacturing like thermal protection tiles or specific hardware and the laboratory supporting the manufacturing.
Ensure the development and qualification of the manufacturing processes, especially for ESA and NASA standards.
Actively drive the development of new materials or new processes (like bi-material 3D printing) with the engineering teams
Manage and oversee the manufacturing team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products and documentation
Collaborate with other teams and departments, such as quality management, design and system team.
Ensure all manufacturing processes meet quality, safety, performance, and reliability requirements.
Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing techniques to meet changing project needs and incorporate new technologies.
What we would love to see from you
In the role of Lead Advanced Manufacturing, ideally, you will have the following:
At least 10 years experience in designing, developing, and testing/qualifying advanced manufacturing processes, including additive manufacturing.
Strong leadership and management skills to lead a manufacturing team and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with other teams and departments, to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing processes.
Knowledge and experience in implementing manufacturing processes and best practices to ensure efficient and effective production (3D printing, machining, forging/bending, welding, composite ultimately).
Knowledge in space industry standard implementation with a focus on ESA and NASA standards or at least other rigorous standards in domains requiring High quality and control expectation with demanding standards.
Up-to-date knowledge of the latest advancements in additive manufacturing, post-processing, and space standard implementation.
Hands-on skills in developing and refining manufacturing processes.
Ability to promote and develop the skills and capabilities of team members and support their development.
