Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Staff Test & Analysis Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Associated Integrated Product Team Lead - GNC the Staff Test & Analysis Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop and support the design, prototype, qualification and sustainment of innovative components and modules for various spacecraft.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and test of components and modules, focusing on Guidance, Navigation, Control, and Propulsion.
- Utilize the full spectrum of design, analysis, test, and manufacturing tools to assess GNC and Propulsion modules.
- Design and optimize Automated Test Systems and test tools to ensure test readiness.
- Conduct simulations and analyses to validate design performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and system engineers, to ensure seamless integration of GNC and Propulsion modules.
- Perform hands-on testing, debugging, and validation of prototypes and final products.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including acceptance test procedures, abbreviated functional tests, test requirement documents and data analysis reports.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in module development.
- Generate technical content in support of internal and external design reviews
- Provide input on design timelines and cost estimates for new programs and initiatives
- Review design analyses, models, drawings, and associated component and module design documentation for workmanship and accuracy
- Manage and lead simultaneous project tasks ensuring that design deliverables, estimated spend and delivery milestones are met.
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, and direction to the project team
- Company Expert: provide mentorship and guidance to Jr. Engineers on Industry Best Practices and Methods
- Contribute to Process Development and Continuous Improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- 8+ years of related experience working on the design of complex test systems.
- Proven experience with the design and development of GNC and Propulsion test systems or similar precision control systems.
- Strong proficiency in simulation and data tools such as MATLAB, Labview, or equivalent
- Hands on experience with modular NI hardware such as DAQs, DSPs, DMMs, DC/AC power supplies, logic analyzers, or similar simulation and stimulation instrumentation
- Proficient in the development and use of automation tools such as TestStand, Python, Pytest, C++, or similar
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of military, automative grade, and other industry standard GNC solutions
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
Additional Differentiators
- Proficiency with EMI/EMC mitigation strategies, industry standards and requirements
- Understanding of radiation mitigation strategies for electrical systems.
- Proven history of implementing test automation strategies in a large-scale manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with related space and/or aerospace applications.
- Ability and willingness to learn new software tools as needed.
