Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director, IT Infrastructure, the Systems Administrator will require strong expertise with Linux administration, complemented by experience with Ansible for automation, VMware virtualization environments, and Docker containers. The Systems Administrator will provide critical support during regular weekday operations and coverage flexibility for team absences. This position operates in a high-security, compliance-conscious environment, reflecting our commitment to operational excellence and security best practices.

This role is on our Weekend Shift (Friday-Sunday) from 6:00AM – 7:00PM

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Linux (primarily Ubuntu) server environments, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance.
  • Implement and optimize configuration management and automation processes using Ansible.
  • Support virtualization infrastructure, particularly VMware environments, including provisioning and managing virtual machines.
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Docker container environments for various applications.
  • Serve as an escalation point for Linux-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Participate in infrastructure improvement projects aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate closely with IT teams to maintain smooth operations and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and helpdesk staff.
  • Document system configurations, operational procedures, and technical standards.

  • 2+ years of proven experience as a Systems Administrator, with a primary focus on Linux environments (Ubuntu preferred).
  • Strong practical experience in scripting and automation with Ansible.
  • Hands-on knowledge of VMware virtualization, including VM deployment and management.
  • Familiarity with Docker containerization technology.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, basic network troubleshooting).
  • Proficiency with security best practices and experience with security hardening and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, clear communication, and documentation abilities.
  • Flexibility to occasionally support weekend or off-hours operations as needed.
  • U.S. Citizenship with eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Salary Range $85,000-$120,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
