Purchasing credits through the carbon markets is one of the most established and scalable ways to channel finance from the private sector to effective climate solutions and work toward societal net zero. To help organizations ensure they're making the most effective investments, Sylvera builds software that independently and accurately automates the evaluation of carbon projects that capture, remove, or avoid emissions. What will I be doing? 👩💻👨💻
We’re looking for a mission-driven, Lead Data Engineer to join our Data Platform function and drive the development of our data platform, leading a small team to achieve robust and reliable data infrastructure through the implementation of a datamesh architecture. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Leading our Data Platform Team under the guidance of our Head of Data Platform
- Building platform capabilities to enable easier integration of our data warehouse with both internal and external tools and services
- Collaborating with other teams to help them leverage Data Platform in their workflows while ensuring a consistent approach to data testing, versioning, and metadata management within our data mesh
- Integrating with APIs to ingest data, but also to ensure synchronicity between our data layer and our GraphQL API layer
- Applying an agile approach in terms of our development lifecycle, allowing us to build complex Data Engineering solutions incrementally
- Knowledge sharing within the team on our data
- Those who are successful will progress quickly, either as individual contributors or following a management path.
We’re looking for someone who: 🧠💚
- Can demonstrate extensive experience having designed and scaled a Data Platform
- Has strong Python skills,Has great SQL, preferably Snowflake
- Has previous experience working with dbt & Airflow
- Is passionate about solving complex data problems & is interested in working with rich & diverse climate datasets
- Cares deeply about the climate and ecosystems of the earth
- Is a self-starter who thrives in constantly evolving environments, ideally with early-stage experience
