HummingSat has recently been selected by Inmarsat to build three I-8 satellites and in 2022 by Intelsat to build the I-45 satellite.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsibility for all the production operations, industrialization, process developments & improvements, and facilities of our site in Renens. This includes activities servicing our RF product lines and the HummingSat payload AIT facilities onsite as well as all test activities (RF, environmental, mechanical).
  • Manage the teams in the areas under your responsibility, including team-leaders specifically addressing production of RF products, facilities, EHS, logistics and industrialization.
  • Supervise the day-to-day use, and champion improvements to relevant business tools and processes in the ERP, collaboration tools, documentation or others.
  • Supervise the coordination of industrialization projects, developments in materials & processes, continuous improvements. This involves leveraging existing staff resources currently allocated to the design office and production teams to create and grow a dedicated industrialization and process development team that will facilitate transitions from designs to optimized productions, drive materials & process developments, drive technology developments relevant to production and tests.
  • Supervise the organization of the different areas or operations (workstations, machines, warehouses), and the selection of equipment and their maintenance (preventive and curative).
  • Plan and execute the company’s growth plans in production & facilities. This includes scaling workstations, machines, capacity, facilities, footprint, lead set of new production areas and transformation projects. This includes scaling up new facilities, from selection of facilities to planning and executing construction activities and commissioning work areas.
  • Hold overall responsibility of EHS aspects and continuous improvements.
  • Write technical documentation, procedures, production tracking documents.
  • Support projects managed by colleagues.
  • Occasionally, you will be asked to participate in overall tasks and services inherent to a dynamic fast-growing company.

Required experience and competencies:

  • Proven strong experience as an operations manager, preferably in the aerospace or defense industries, involving the assembly of complex subsystems, for a minimum of 10 years.
  • Proven experience scaling production and test operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of production and logistics management.
  • Good understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills including the ability to drive organizational development and talent acquisition and retention, team building, coaching and performance management.
  • Excellent communication skills including excellent relationship building skills and ability to work in a team with different professional and cultural backgrounds.
  • Attention to detail and very good organizational skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and a pragmatic results-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products and usual software tools (ERP).
  • Engineering degree HES, EPF or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English and French.
