HummingSat has recently been selected by Inmarsat to build three I-8 satellites and in 2022 by Intelsat to build the I-45 satellite. We are looking for a Production Manager to lead our day-to-day production activities in Switzerland to support delivering cutting edge RF products to our international customer base.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsibility for the production activities on RF products out of our Renens site.
  • Plan resources and production schedule, supervise daily execution.
  • Monitor the production operations and adjust schedules as needed.
  • You will be managing a broad portfolio of productions for RF products and subsystems, with production files and configuration specified by the Program management office.
  • Supervise the production team in Renens with staff in a mechanical workshop, 3D printing workshop, assembly and test.
  • Champion the day-to-day use of business processes relevant to production, such as: o Maintain an up-to-date parts inventory in the ERP o Issue production orders, where applicable through the ERP o Resupplies and purchase requests, where applicable through the ERP and in collaboration with colleagues from procurement & supply chain o Verify completeness of BOMs and drawing packages received from the design & methods teams during production handovers.
  • Ensure customer orders are completed on time, on budget and that quality standards and targets are met.
  • Contribute to organizing the different production areas (workstations, machines, warehouses).
  • Contribute to selecting equipment and be responsible for their maintenance (preventive and curative).
  • Ensure production is executed safely and is compliant with relevant EHS standards.
  • In collaboration with colleagues from the quality team, align production processes to both internal and customer quality requirements. Foster and drive continuous improvement.
  • Supervise, in collaboration with the Quality team, the quality control and inspection of in-house manufactured or delivered by suppliers’ products.
  • Write technical documentation, procedures, production tracking documents.
  • Supervise logistics activities to and from suppliers, partners and customers.
  • Support projects managed by colleagues.
  • Occasionally, you will be asked to participate in overall tasks and services inherent to a dynamic fast-growing company.

Required experience and competencies:

  • Proven experience as production manager/supervisor, preferably involving the assembly of complex mechanical/electronic equipment, for a minimum of 5 years.
  • In-depth knowledge of production and logistics management.
  • Exposure to working in working with a production team which is scaling-up and working towards improved industrialization.
  • Good understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills including excellent relationship building skills and ability to work in a team with different professional and cultural backgrounds across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated strong leaderships skills.
  • Proven ability to attract and retain talent and coach and develop team members.
  • Attention to detail and very good organizational skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and a pragmatic results-driven approach.
  • Fluent in English & French.
