Swift Navigation is seeking a talented Staff Cloud Platform Engineer with a focus on cloud infrastructure to join our dynamic team. As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and maintenance of the cloud infrastructure powering Swift’s cutting-edge navigation solutions. This role requires advanced technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of cloud technologies to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions. Ensure alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the cloud engineering team, guiding them in architecture decisions, best practices, and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Automation: Automate deployment, configuration, and management processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Cloud Operations and Optimization: Oversee day-to-day cloud operations, monitoring system performance, and optimizing resource utilization. Implement cost-saving measures and strategies for efficient resource allocation.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure cloud environments adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements. Implement and maintain security controls, conduct regular audits, and respond to security incidents promptly.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity. Conduct regular testing and optimization of disaster recovery plans.
  • Capacity Planning and Scaling: Monitor resource usage trends and forecast capacity requirements. Develop scaling strategies to accommodate growing workloads and ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, operations, and security, to align cloud infrastructure with business needs. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and gather requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies, best practices, and industry trends. Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance cloud infrastructure efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Lead incident response efforts during critical incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences. Provide technical guidance and support to resolve complex technical issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of deep, hands on experience in a platform or Cloud team building and supporting mission critical services and infrastructure in a SaaS environment
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models, as well as cloud-native services and architectures.

Requirements and Experience

  • Experience working in AWS environments, specifically EKS, IAM, S3, EC2, ECR, ALB/NLB, ASG, KMS and Route53
  • Deep knowledge and experience of Kubernetes/EKS platforms with a focus on ingress, cluster and workload scaling and high availability.
  • Experience defining and provisioning infrastructure with IaC tooling, preferably Terraform/Terragrunt.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes application deployment tools such as Helm and Kustomize.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python and Golang.
  • Experience developing infrastructure provisioning pipelines with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD.
