Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on customer-facing features of StreetLight SaaS web applications (InSight Planning, Insight Operations) and their analytics data pipelines.
  • Interface among our San Francisco, Vancouver, Bangalore, and Eastern European teams, and mentor more junior engineers
  • Deliver product releases and fixes to production as needed
  • Write automated unit tests and participate in peer design and code reviews
  • Collaborate daily with the other developers and QA engineers on the team, as well as with Product Management
  • Tune StreetLight Mobility Data Solutions for performance, scalability and throughput of the data pipeline
  • Work collaboratively with Operations to monitor and maintain the scalability and throughput of the data pipeline and customer delivery systems
  • Assist Support and Operations in resolving production issues when needed, and improve the product to avoid them in the future
Here's what you'll need
  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer at a software product company, preferable in an enterprise market
  • 3+ years of experience working with large volumes of data and handling data pipelines
  • Competence and experience in backend software development and data pipelines including experience with data streaming technologies and batch processes
  • Strong problem solving and solution design skills
  • Proficiency in Go or Python (Java, C++ or Ruby experience can substitute for Go/Python in a candidate who is open to learning new technologies)
  • Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases
  • Experience in distributed software solutions design and cloud architectures
  • Experience working in cloud-deployed platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and distributed messaging systems like Apache Kafka (or similar technologies) a plus
  • Prior experience with ETL technologies and data-warehouse technologies a plus
  • Product and customer orientation
  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Quick learner, and a strong team player
