StreetLight Data is seeking a high caliber Sr. Software Engineer to be part of our amazing Advanced Services team. StreetLight Services delivers cutting-edge transportation data, novel software tools, and insights to a growing list of global customers in combination with our industry-leading SaaS platform. This team member will work on both the frontend and backend of our advanced services products and prototypes that customers use to explore and visualize travel patterns in the real world. This position reports to the Director of Services Engineering.
Here's What You'll Do:
o Design, implement, and maintain customer-facing features, including both frontend (React) and backend (Django/Postgres) components, in our Advanced Services offerings
o Prototype and iterate on feature concepts in collaboration with a wide range of team members.
o Engineer high quality software, including peer design, unit testing and code reviews
o Collaborate with Data Science, Data Engineering, and Software Engineering teams to bring new metrics and techniques into the products.
o Assist Support and Operations in resolving production issues when needed, and improve the product to avoid them in the future
Here’s What You’ll Need:
o BS / MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or an Engineering discipline from a top university
o 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer at a software product company, preferable in an enterprise market
o 3+ years of experience developing web-based SaaS applications
o Competence and interest in both frontend and backend web development
o Proficiency in either JavaScript or Python (both would be a strong plus; Java, Ruby, or Go experience can substitute for Python in a candidate who is open to learning)
o Experience with SQL databases. (Experience with PostGIS/GeoPandas/Shapely are a plus)
o Product and customer orientation
o Good communication skills - both written and verbal
o Quick learner, and a strong team player
