Long Beach, CA, USA
SpinLaunch is building Meridian, a next-generation broadband constellation designed to deliver high-capacity, low-latency connectivity to users around the globe. Backed by leading venture capital and engineering partners, we are rapidly scaling the design, production, and deployment of the satellites and ground systems that will bring Meridian online. Joining the Meridian team means working at the forefront of one of the most ambitious commercial space programs underway today — designing, building, and operating spacecraft that will reshape global connectivity. You'll be part of a close-knit, collaborative team that thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment, where your work directly advances a constellation that millions will depend on.
Your Mission on the Team:
You will be responsible for managing the design of the meridian satellite as a whole. This includes:
- Developing infrastructure to track the state of the satellite design and its variants, including performance projections through analysis, as well as projection of costs, risk and development timelines.
- Working with the engineering team to conduct trade studies of and optimize the design of the satellite across all performance metrics and design permutations.
- Working alongside the sales team, analysts and with external technology partners to develop satellite and constellation solutions for specific customers.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience designing, modeling, or analyzing satellite or spacecraft systems (academic, internship, or professional)
- Proficiency in writing software for building tools to model system performance, trade studies, or design tracking. (ideally in Python)
- Working knowledge of satellite technologies, design principles, and concepts of operations
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate trade-offs across performance, cost, risk, and schedule
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, sales, and external partner teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional design/development experience in satellite systems
- Master's degree in aerospace, electrical, or systems engineering, or a related field
- Previous experience with spacecraft or space mission top-level design and architecture
- Previous work on small LEO satellites or commercial constellations
- Experience developing satellite simulations, performance models, or design-tracking infrastructure
- Experience optimizing satellite designs across multiple disciplines (power, thermal, comms, propulsion, structures, etc.)
- Experience working with customers, sales teams, or external technology partners to define mission solutions
- Familiarity with constellation-level design considerations (coverage, capacity, latency)
