Snap Inc. is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together. The Company’s three core products are Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world; Lens Studio, an augmented reality platform that powers AR across Snapchat and other services; and its AR glasses, Spectacles.

Snap Lab is home to our hardware products with a world-class research & development team. We are focused on pushing the boundaries of what a camera can be, specifically overlaying computing on the real world. Next Generation Spectacles are our first pair of glasses that bring augmented reality to life

We’re looking for a Product and Yield Engineer to join Snap Labs!

What you’ll do:

In this challenging yet rewarding role you will plan, direct, and lead product yield improvement activities including identification of failure and yield issues, identification of root cause and implementation of corrective actions. Across the product lifecycle, from prototype to production, you will take the lead on correlating performance to process parameters and support our new product introduction process for Augmented Reality glasses.

  • Analyze products to ensure manufacturability and specification compliance, including setting the optimal test screening limits and guard-bands in production test plans

  • Provision of thorough and detailed test data analysis on each key NPI design revision during product development and identify key parameters for improvement

  • Apply continuous improvement practices and yield optimization tools for the tracking of test parameters, uncovering correlations and troubleshooting process and assembly issues

  • Analyze and evaluate component specification versus performance to ensure optimal match of component requirements with production equipment capability with specific emphasis on yield analysis

  • Interface with foundry and supply chain partners to understand and debug processing issues. Collaborate with Supply Chain and Engineering teams on external process control management, driving product quality and yield improvements

  • Conduct and report to core teams, extensive data analysis establishing product performance and ensure DFT (Design For Testability) and DFM (Design For Manufacturability)

  • Coordinate between test and design engineering to ensure creation of optimized test systems and regimes. Develop in-process screens to optimize product cost and quality

  • Disposition test excursions using data derived from data analysis tools and Product Engineering skills

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate defects and nonconforming material

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Candidates should have experience with Six Sigma techniques, reliability testing methodologies, basic failure analysis principles and automated test equipment used in development and final test

  • Excellent understanding of statistical process control, analysis techniques, tools and applications

  • Knowledge and experience of problem-solving skills supported by experience of coordinating controlled experiments to assist in areas like failure and yield analysis

  • Able to generate clear and concise technical reports.

  • Ability to understand and synthesize correlations between parametric test data and corresponding process variation / design sensitivities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in an Engineering, Science, or Technology discipline

  • At least five years’ product/yield engineering experience in a product development or volume manufacturing environment within the optical assembly, electronics, or microelectronics industries

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience taking products from initial concept to market release. Ideally volume consumer products

  • Experience within the photonics or electronics industries

  • Hands-on experience with test equipment and data acquisition.
