Job Description

Job Overview :

We are seeking a specialized Mechanism Engineer to design and develop Solar Array Drive Assembly (SADA) mechanisms for spacecraft applications. This role is critical in ensuring reliable solar array pointing and power generation for satellite missions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mechanical design, precision mechanisms, and space-qualified mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities :

SADA Design: Design and develop Solar Array Drive Assembly mechanisms including rotary joints, slip rings, and pointing mechanisms for spacecraft solar arrays.

Mechanism Analysis:Perform detailed mechanical analysis including structural analysis, dynamic analysis, and mechanism performance modeling.

-Component Selection: Select and specify mechanical components including bearings, gears, motors, and precision mechanical elements for space applications.

-Testing and Validation: Coordinate mechanical testing including life testing, environmental testing, and performance validation of SADA mechanisms.

-Design Optimization: Optimize mechanism designs for mass, power consumption, reliability, and performance requirements.

-Documentation: Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, test procedures, and technical documentation for SADA systems.

-Supplier Coordination: Work with suppliers and vendors for precision mechanical components and mechanism assemblies.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with emphasis on mechanical design and mechanisms.

Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with precision mechanisms, rotating machinery, or space mechanisms.

-Technical Skills:Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA), mechanism analysis tools, and mechanical design principles.

-Space Systems Knowledge:Understanding of space environment effects on mechanical systems and requirements for space-qualified mechanisms.

-Problem-solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to precision and reliability requirements.

Desired Attributes

  • Experience with solar array systems, pointing mechanisms, or satellite mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of precision bearings, slip rings, and rotary joint technologies.
  • Understanding of spacecraft power systems and solar array deployment mechanisms.
