How You’ll Make An Impact

The Senior Application Administrator in Data Operations team will be responsible for managing day-to-day administration and operations of all the BI applications, servers and databases supported by Data Operations team. In this role, person need to get thorough understanding of the architecture and implementation of all the existing tools and applications such as Tableau, Cognos, QlikView, AWS services, Informatica, Talend etc. and take full ownership of maintaining the good health of these applications. This position is in Data Operations team that provides round the clock support by actively monitoring all the applications, data pipelines and data platforms and resolve failures/ delay in timely manner.

A primary focus of this role will be to administer and manage good health of Redshift, Informatica, Talend, Cognos and other BI applications that are currently supported by Data Operations team. To be successful in this role, candidate must have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience on BI applications configuration, upgrades, and regular admin tasks, must be very strong in managing workload and performance optimization of BI applications. Collaborate with Data Platform and data governance teams in new tools POC and other platform initiatives. Must implement the data standards and governing rules defined by the data governance team in all applications administration tasks. Setup application observability controls using Datadog on all the BI applications. Must have the ability to handle several major projects simultaneously and must be able to work closely with data engineering and platform teams and partner with them to provide operations best practices and timely support.

What You’ll Do

  • Deploy and administer AWS Redshift, Tableau, Talend, Cognos, Informatica and other BI applications.
  • Lead offshore and onsite application admins and guide them to achieve best results.
  • Automate provisioning, operation, monitoring and troubleshooting of the database and data lake infrastructure.
  • Provide consistent database maintenance, optimization and best practices inputs to existing Redshift and SQL databases, data lake, SQL engines, and applications.
  • Provide Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and execution with RPO/RTO objectives and SLAs.
  • Create smart solutions for the problems we encounter with a willingness to do maintenance type jobs.
  • Build effective monitoring, alerts, and metrics for production services.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent education and experience
  • 5+ years’ work experience with AWS Services and administration of BI applications
  • 5+ years’ experience with SQL Warehouses administration, monitoring and troubleshooting activities, including data warehousing, analytical applications development and support.
  • 2+ years experience with enterprise database operations as a primary DBA.
  • 1+ years experience with data lake and SQL engine design, operations, and maintenance experience.
  • AWS certification is a big plus.
  • Solid knowledge of AWS platform and its services - including but not limited to: VPC, EC2, S3, Redshift, Aurora, Lambda functions, AWS CLI, Cloud Watch, Cloudtrail and Sagemaker.
  • Good experience in using CI/CD tools (git, Bitbucket, AWS Code Pipeline, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • BI Reporting tools (Tableau, Cognos, QlikView) administration experience is must to have.
  • Very strong Unix skills and proficient in handling server level issues.
  • Commitment to “internal client” and customer service principles
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
