SiriusXM is rapidly expanding its services to drive further engagement of consumers via smartphones, tablets, PCs, and connected devices, while continuing to maintain and grow its adoption in connected cars. This position focuses on building out and supporting the latest generation of our JavaScript based media playback platform. As a member of our web engineering playback team, you will get the chance to take on complex and interesting problems as part of a fast paced, highly collaborative team. What You’ll Do
SiriusXM is looking for a creative and collaborative Staff Software Engineer with experience designing and building modern JavaScript based media players. As a member of our Client Engineering team, you will lead important architecture decisions and play a key role in the development of SiriusXM streaming music services, used daily by millions of listeners.

What You’ll Need
- 8+ years demonstrable professional experience and 3+ years developing solutions for consumer web applications.
- Strong comprehension of high availability, multi-tier, mission critical and fault tolerant system design.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor other engineers.
- Ability to effectively work cross functionally in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
- Dedication to thorough testing and creating high quality software.
- A growth mindset and an ability to learn quickly.
- Experience in core technologies such as Node.JS, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React, Jenkins, Docker.
- Experience with audio/video streaming (HLS, AAC, MP3, MP4) and open-source libraries for streaming (hls.js, dash, etc.) with an understanding of HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) standards.
- Experience with all aspects of a streaming media application in a JavaScript based context.
- Experience debugging and fixing performance issues in streaming applications and optimizing playback experience for devices in performance and/or bandwidth constrained environments.
- Exposure to architectural design patterns of highly scaled web applications.
- Experience writing unit, integration, and acceptance tests with Jest, Vitest, or similar.
- Experience with Webpack, Vite, or similar, and related JavaScript / TypeScript tooling.
- Ability to take part in on call rotation to maintain key infrastructure and assist with build and deployment related issues.
- Nice to have familiarity with Media Source Extensions and DRM technologies (Widevine, Playready, Fairplay)
- Nice to have solid understanding of react and related technologies.
- Nice to have solid command of web standards, best practices, accessibility, and browser compatibility issues.
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S
