How You’ll Make An Impact

  • The Senior Principal Engineer, Media Content Engineering Program, will facilitate technical elements of Sirius XM’s business vision into our media product development.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with one or more of the Media Content Engineering team leads to develop, maintain, and understand their roadmap initiatives, programs, and status. Implement approved updates in our Portfolio planning and Program tools.
  • Communicate Program needs up and down the Media Content Engineering organization. Highlight and identify blockers, risks, and prioritization needs and strategize on plans for remediation of them.
  • Facilitate solutions for Media Content Engineering products in coordination with internal partners across Product, Technology, Programming and Operations. Solutions will include commercial off the shelf (COTS) products as well as internally developed ones.
  • Be an open-minded innovator for integrating those for our workflows and content management and creation processes as part of the solutioning effort.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation related to the Program and Solutions Architecture responsibilities assigned.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in Engineering, Operations, Product, Program Management, Legal, and Data Science.
  • Prepare and present materials that drive key decisions that impact the Media Content Engineering team. Ensure compliance with those decisions across all of the activities assigned. Maintain an accurate accounting of the status of every Program and convey those details to both senior leadership and the engineering team members.

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum Bachelor level degree in electrical engineering, information systems or systems engineering from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience. Masters level degree in engineering preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in software and hardware systems lifecycles, at least 8 of which should be in a leadership/supervisory role.
  • Experience working in a 24 X 7, critical operations environment desired.
  • Experience in broadcasting, streaming services and/or media engineering is a plus.
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to “internal client” and customer service principles.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
  • Creative writing ability.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Moderate travel is required within the US and infrequent other international travel.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Functional knowledge of MS Visio, MS Project, Jama, Jira, Confluence and Slack.
  • Knowledge of hardware architecture components including servers, networking components, architectures, and related techniques.
  • Knowledge of software architecture and best practices.
  • Good understanding of networking including TCP/IP protocol, routing, and firewall operations.
  • Knowledge of Broadcast protocols SMPTE, 2110, AES67 a plus
  • Familiarity with Cloud architecture for Media and/or Media transcode workflows a plus
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux-based computer systems, C++, MySQL, JAVA, and windows-based computer programs.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $157,300 to $290,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply
