How You’ll Make An Impact

As the Senior Application and Infrastructure Engineer, you will join our dynamic team dedicated to Media Content Engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and deploying Compute systems along with coding, scripting, APIs, troubleshooting, and managing applications. A background in broadcast media is a plus. The Senior Applications and Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, testing and refining design issues and implementing changes to meet the requirements of broadcast applications and support operational excellence as well as contribute to short and long-term strategic planning of broadcast technology.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with cross functional teams and understand requirements and develop inhouse solutions and or via third party vendors
  • Design and implement broadcast systems and applications, including audio, video and metadata routing, signal processing, and control systems
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure teams for Compute and Storage capacity planning, environmental stability (OS and Virtual Layer) for the Applications
  • Understand Application systems and workflows and develop and implement APIs to integrate to support existing and new requirements
  • Design and develop custom solutions via Automation and Scripting
  • Install, configure, and maintain Applications and OS components, including servers
  • Create technical documentation for existing and new application systems which help transition to other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other broadcast team members, including audio and video engineers, to ensure seamless integration of systems and applications
  • Coordinate with vendors and support the team on problem resolution, design issues, Installs and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues:
    • Related to Broadcast applications and systems
    • OS and infrastructure
  • Provide technical support to internal and external users, including troubleshooting, training
  • Excellent Operational Mode: Assist with Transition to Operations after deployment, adhering to 99.99% critical service availability
  • Innovate and implement key modernized technology architectures and concepts, including platform-based solutions that optimize the customer experience
What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT systems or equivalent, relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise Application Maintenance, Support, and troubleshooting end to end.
  • 3+ years of experience in broadcast and Media engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Redhat, Ubuntu
  • Experience with REST based APIs, Scripting and automation
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Application and OS Stacks
  • Familiarity with broadcast standards, such as SMPTE, AES, and MADI.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Strong technical skills in broadcast systems and applications, including audio and video routing, signal processing, and control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Working experience or knowledge of the following infrastructure areas of interest:
    • Compute
    • Storage
    • VMWare
    • Operating Systems – Windows, Linux (various flavors)
    • AWS is a plus
  • Working experience or knowledge of Broadcast Media systems and applications is a plus including knowledge in the following areas:
    • Scheduling Software
    • Automation Systems
    • Playout Systems
    • Record Systems
    • Audio Routing, Control and Content Origination
    • Metadata Routing
    • Video Routing
    • Media Asset Management
  • Must be highly self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to work as part of a team of different subject matter experts as well as supervise others in design and implementation
  • Motivated to keep pace with rapidly evolving broadcast and IT technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to multitask, shift priorities, and be willing to adapt or improve

  • Availability to travel for assignments at remote company locations

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $100,000 to $150,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
