How You’ll Make An ImpactSeeking a visionary and results-oriented Vice President of Marketing Operations with strong leadership qualities to transform our centralized Marketing Operations team and unlock our next phase of growth. They will have the primary responsibility for the design, build, execution, and optimization of multi-channel direct marketing activities. They will be a thought leader who will assist in building new capabilities to deliver a modern, dynamic, data-driven marketing journey. The individual should have significant experience in deploying large scale campaigns across multiple internal and externally managed channels.
What You’ll Do
- Build and lead a high-performing marketing operations team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance individual and collective performance.
- Streamline processes, optimize workflows, and implement innovative technologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Partner with Marketing leaders to develop the contact strategy for key strategic customer segments with clear business objectives and targets for each segment.
- Work with Strategic Analytic and Tech leaders to significantly expand the use of customer data and machine learning models in campaign design and decisioning.
- Regularly deploy new customer attributes and models that improve campaign performance.
- Work with Marketing Strategy leads to design, develop, test and deploy direct marketing campaigns. Campaign execution activity includes:
- Collaborate on the development of campaign briefs
- Develop list pull criteria using models or alternative variables
- Assist in building and orchestrating customer journeys
- Deploy campaigns in the campaign management application
- Review test counts with marketing stakeholders
- Manage and audit campaign suppression and exclusion lists
- Deliver the communication files and associated reference data to the appropriate internal or external channel vendors
- Build and apply the campaign and offer response rules
- Prepare, validate, evaluate, and distribute the campaign performance reports
- Assist in evaluating and optimizing the effectiveness of direct marketing campaigns.
- Work with the Marketing stakeholders and the Strategic Analytics team to ensure the appropriate test and control frameworks are in place to support campaign and model evaluation.
- Work with Marketing stakeholders to optimize customer and prospect contact strategy, communications and offers.
- Foster strong relationships and collaboration with Product Development, Programming, and Marketing to align initiatives with overall business objectives, ensuring a seamless customer journey.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, report on results to senior leadership, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Manage and monitor the relationships with external vendors (email, direct mail, etc) to ensure they meet service and operating level agreements. Serve as the primary relationship owner or key constituent for these vendors, and act as key liaison for internal channel partners (call center, web, app, etc) to develop, deploy and monitor campaigns. This includes:
- Working across marketing channels to ensure they have the required information and data to accurately execute the communications.
- Managing the movement of data to external channel vendors in an efficient and secure manner.
- QA campaign lists and reference data provided to the internal and external channel vendors or systems.
- Monitoring the performance and SLA’s of campaigns.
- Negotiating contracts for vendors and services.
- Set priorities within the group and create operational plans to address marketing strategies and objectives.
- Manage effective communications between the Marketing Operations function and other SXM teams and partners.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities, conducting regular market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and inform marketing strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Mathematics or Business; MBA preferred
- 15+ years of experience within a Marketing function
- 10+ years working in and managing a marketing operations function at a large commercial organization, preferably a subscription business
- 6+ years of leadership experience at the senior level
- Expertise in marketing and automation technologies such as Adobe, Epsilon. Salesforce Marketing and Data Cloud preferred.
- Strong presentation, team management, and communication skills
- Demonstrated strong relationship-building and communication skills both across an organization and with external partners
- Demonstrated success in leading transformative marketing strategies and driving growth in a dynamic and competitive market
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing outcomes across Marketing, IT and Analytics teams
- Proven track record of implementing operational excellence (process efficiencies, effective tools and technologies)
- Thought leadership in developing new marketing capabilities and a key thought partner for marketing teams to architect new strategies.
- Experience managing external vendors (email, direct mail, telemarketing, etc).
- Proven track record of successfully leading Marketing Operations teams for large-scale, consumer businesses; experience building these teams preferred.
