Job Summary
Sidus Space has an opening for a Senior RF Engineer at Sidus Space in Cape Canaveral, Florida to make complex RF designs, maintain and improve our current satellite hardware and serve as a reference for the company on grounding and EMI/EMC topics. This position is an advanced-level design engineering position. The position requires solid expertise in RF and proper experience with digital and mixed-signal designs focusing on high-speed signals. Candidates must also have significant experience in the design of full end-to-end communications systems. They need to coordinate with other team members to integrate RF designs into multi-chip modules. They should have the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly motivated, and very interactive team environment.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This engineering function provides development and the design of the RF system and subsystem architectures for satellite communications.
- Developing and designing the RF system and its subsystems including functional and performance requirements
- Simulate and evaluate signal and power integrity of complex designs.
- Develop validation procedures and write code requirements in order to test prototypes.
- Validate compliance with specifications.
- Plan and support test and measurement for evaluation of prototype designs. Document and summarize design data to support team members and different clients of the company.
- Prepare guidelines for grounding in complex systems and review boards.
- Be a reference in EMI/EMC design techniques and testing.
- Flexible, able, and willing to learn new things.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
- Electronic Engineer (or equivalent), with specialization in high-frequency circuits
- At least 10 years of experience as an RF hardware engineer in a high-tech environment.
- Wide experience in RF communication systems such as heterodyne systems, up&down converters, high-frequency power amplifiers, and antennas. Experience in the X-Band frequency range.
- Experience in grounding for complex systems and with EMI/EMC design techniques and testing.
- Knowledge of test and measurement techniques and equipment for RF circuits, such as signal generators, VNAs, and spectrum/signal analyzers.
Required Skills
- Strong background in the design of digital and mixed-signal circuits.
- Proficiency with Harmonic Balance, S-Parameter, Transient, and Envelope Simulation. Detailed knowledge of RF and microwave design techniques including high-efficiency power amplifier design and low noise amplifiers.
- Use of EM simulators such as ADS Momentum, ADS FEM, and/or Ansys HFSS, FEKO, or CST in conjunction with circuit simulators to accurately predict overall circuit performance.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to mentor others.
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed balanced with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Stationary Work – occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force to transport objects, remaining mostly stationary, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces
- Computer Work – daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone & speakers.
Travel Requirement
- Able to travel <10% of the time
Shift/Schedule
This position is onsite for the day shift, generally working 8:00am-5:00pm, or at least 40 hours/week.
