Job Summary
Avionics Technicians I, II, and III are responsible for fabricating wire harnesses and cables used in electrical and electronic equipment systems for satellites and space system components for the International Space Station, Artemis and Orion programs as well as commercial programs. Technicians are also responsible for assembling satellite buses and subsystems, and assembly of other complex electromechanical projects.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Measures, cuts, solders and or crimps wire and contacts to fabricate wire harness
- Reads instructions, such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly
- Assembles cables, satellite buses, and electromechanical systems.
- Performs potting of connectors to protect from water/dust intrusion
- Labels and packages cable harness assemblies for shipment
- Adhere to all Quality Management Systems standards and procedures
- Treat all team members with respect and dignity ensuring a collaborative culture is continually developed and maintained.

Required Education and Experience
- Three (3+) years’ experience as an electrical/cable fabrication technician or other relevant industry experience. Applicants with experience that exceed the minimum may be considered for a higher-level Avionics Technician position.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in related field preferred. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
- Experience working with wire crimping and connector soldering.
- Experience with engineering drawings, wire diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.

- Electromechanical systems and assembly background.
- IPC J-Std-001 and/or IPC-620 certification, NASA 8739.4 certified.

- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix problems that may arise.
- Ability to collaborate with many different teams/individuals to reach a common goal by building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation maintaining positive and professional relationships, and contributing to a culture of inclusion
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary Work – occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force to carry, lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves being stationary most of the time, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces.
- Computer Work – daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone & speakers.
Travel Requirement
Able to travel <10% of the time.
Shift/Schedule
This position is for the 1st shift generally working 7:00am – 3:30pm, which includes one 15-minute break and 30-minute unpaid lunch.
