The Business Development Manager will be responsible for building Shield AI’s business opportunities across Taiwan’s commercial and government markets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Taiwan’s governmental procurement processes and experience working with commercial companies in the aerospace, defense, and/or technology industries and demonstrate confidence in engaging with customers at all levels, representing Shield AI at industry events, and leading product demonstrations. As part of a small, high-performing team, you’ll take on meaningful responsibilities and work on challenging projects, with occasional travel. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact and play a key role in shaping the company’s success.
What you'll do
- Support the Taiwan Country Director/ International Business Development Senior Manager in executing Shield AI’s strategy and objectives.
- Identify new opportunities, partnerships, and contracts to expand Shield AI’s market presence.
- Engage with customers regularly to present and discuss Shield AI products (hardware and software).
- Cultivate, nurture, and maintain strong relationships across the Taiwan Government, military services, and related aerospace/ defense industries to ensure successful engagement with key stakeholders
- Represent Shield AI at trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events, both locally and internationally; showcasing our technology and capabilities.
- Devise and coordinate marketing and government relations initiatives to increase Shield AI’s visibility and influence.
- Provide market intelligence and industry insights to guide business strategy.
- Plan and execute product demonstrations and events for prospective customers and partners
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between client requirements and company solutions.
- Lead and coordinate proposal, whitepaper and other relevant documents for stakeholders.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military education.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English, with strong communication and presentation skills; comfortable engaging with senior government and business leaders.
- Ability to communicate effectively and inspire interest in Shield AI’s mission, technology, and products, while contributing to the company’s growth and impact.
- Proactive and results-driven, with experience achieving ambitious goals under tight deadlines.
- Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally, frequently and without restriction, including to customer sites.
- Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally within a team.
- Comfortable learning and using modern business systems and tools to drive efficiency and impact.
- 8-10 years Previous Defense/ UAV/ Autonomy Experience
Preferred qualifications
- Understanding of Taiwan Government and commercial industry operations and acquisition processes.
- Strong relationships throughout Taiwan government and industry.
- Business development and/ or technical experience in UAV, AI, or other defense-related disciplines.
- Prior strategy, research and analysis experience.
