ROLE DESCRIPTION

As an Intern – Production Technician, SMT (Surface Mount Technology), you will support the assembly and production of electronic hardware used in satellite systems. Working closely with experienced technicians and engineers, you will gain hands-on experience in PCB assembly processes, SMT production lines, and electronic manufacturing within a high-reliability environment.

This internship is designed to provide practical exposure to electronic production, including component placement, soldering, inspection, and process control, while ensuring compliance with quality and industry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers, you will:

  • Support SMT production activities, including PCB preparation, component placement, and assembly processes
  • Assist in operating SMT equipment such as pick-and-place machines, jet printers, and reflow ovens
  • Help prepare and set up materials, components, and tools required for production runs
  • Support visual inspection and basic quality checks of assembled electronic boards
  • Assist in identifying and reporting defects or non-conformances in coordination with quality and engineering teams
  • Help maintain production documentation, including work instructions and production records
  • Support material handling activities, including kitting, labeling, and traceability of electronic components
  • Participate in maintaining cleanliness and organization of SMT production areas, including ESD compliance
  • Assist in basic troubleshooting and process support under supervision
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in SMT production processes

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a vocational training, Bachelor’s degree, or technical diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Strong interest in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly or SMT production processes
  • Basic understanding of electronic components and PCB assembly is a plus
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools; prior exposure to manufacturing environments is an advantage
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail for handling small electronic components
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a structured, fast-paced production environment
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and follow technical instructions

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to work on-site in a production environment
  • Ability to work in ESD-protected areas and follow strict handling procedures for electronic components
  • Comfortable working with small parts, fine tools, and precision assembly tasks
  • Basic awareness of safety and quality standards in electronics manufacturing is a plus
