Intern Manufacturing Engineering, Process
Location & Work Type: Kockelscheuer, Luxembourg (Onsite)
Contract Type: Internship – 6 months
ROLE DESCRIPTION
As an Intern – Manufacturing Engineering, Process, you will support the definition, validation, and improvement of manufacturing processes used in satellite production, assembly, integration, and testing. Working alongside experienced manufacturing engineers, you will gain hands-on exposure to how complex aerospace hardware is built and how processes are designed to ensure safety, quality, and repeatability.
This internship is designed to provide practical experience in process engineering, documentation, and industrial operations within a high-reliability manufacturing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance of manufacturing engineers, you will:
- Support the development and documentation of manufacturing processes for production, assembly, integration, and test activities
- Assist in creating and maintaining process flows, routings, and work instructions aligned with engineering definitions
- Help prepare and update manufacturing documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability on the shopfloor
- Support process validation activities, including basic data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Assist in evaluating tooling, equipment, and production setups to ensure process readiness
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving process-related issues in collaboration with production, quality, and engineering teams
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities for non-conformances
- Help ensure compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturing standards (e.g., ESD, cleanroom practices)
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, robustness, and repeatability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, industrialization, and design engineering
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Strong interest in manufacturing engineering, process development, or industrial operations within a technical environment
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, or industrial engineering concepts is a plus
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); exposure to MES, PLM, or ERP systems is an advantage
- Analytical and structured approach to problem-solving with attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary environment
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative
OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness to work on-site in production and engineering environments
- Interest in working in controlled environments (e.g., cleanroom, ESD-protected areas) is an advantage
- Basic awareness of safety and quality standards in manufacturing is a plus
