PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

IRIS² is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.

SES – together with other consortium partners and core members – has been selected by European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS² multi-orbit satellite constellation.

As the project enters its next phase, our team is expanding to support the development of future services and products enabled by the IRIS² system. We are now seeking skilled professionals to help shape the service provisioning landscape and ensure the successful deployment of cutting-edge satellite connectivity solutions.

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Document and Data Management Expert to lead and maintain the integrity, organization, and compliance of data and documentation management systems within the IRIS² Programme – a flagship European secure connectivity initiative. This role is critical in ensuring the secure handling of sensitive and classified information, in line with European and national security standards.

The successful candidate will oversee the full lifecycle of technical documentation and data, ensuring traceability, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable regulations. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, programme management, and security teams to support the delivery of a secure, resilient, and scalable space-based connectivity infrastructure.

As a member of an agile project organization, you will be expected to bring a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset to a dynamic development environment.

As a Document and Data Management Expert, you will be responsible to :

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust document and data management processes aligned with aerospace and defense standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, ECSS).
  • Ensure secure storage, classification, and retrieval of engineering documents, design data, and configuration records, including handling of EU-classified information.
  • Manage documentation control systems, including templates, naming conventions, metadata, and revision control.
  • Ensure preparation of document deliveries and manage internal distribution.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure all project data is current, traceable, and compliant with customer, regulatory, and security requirements.
  • Conduct regular data integrity checks, audits, and support digital transformation or data migration initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and compliance with EU and national security regulations, including export control and classified data handling protocols.
  • Support internal and external audits, including those related to classified data management.

YOUR PROFILE :

1 - Must-Have

  • Master’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in document or data management within the aerospace, defense, or secure government programmes.
  • Proven experience with classified data handling procedures and secure documentation practices.
  • Valid EU and LUX Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) at CONFIDENITAL (CONFIDENTIEL UE/EU CONFIDENTIAL and Confidentiel Lux) level or higher.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles and document control standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, ECSS).
  • Proficiency with PLM or DMS tools (e.g., SharePoint, Windchill, Teamcenter).

2 - Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in European space or secure connectivity programmes (e.g., IRIS², GOVSATCOM, Galileo).
  • Familiarity with digital data governance or master data management systems.
  • Knowledge of automation or scripting tools for data management (e.g., Python, Power Automate).
  • Certification in Configuration or Data Management (e.g., CMII, PMI-PBA).
  • Understanding of EU and national security frameworks, including EUCI handling procedures.

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS

  • The candidate must be eligible for a “SECRET” security clearance, in accordance with the “loi modifiée du 15 juin 2004 relative à la classification des pièces et aux habilitations de sécurité”, as well as EU/ESA/NATO equivalents
  • You are meticulous, security-conscious, and passionate about ensuring the integrity and protection of sensitive technical data. You thrive in structured, high-stakes environments and are experienced in managing documentation and data within secure, regulated programmes.
  • Willing to work at least 60% onsite from office
  • Travel as required for project realization purposes
