PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States. In addition, as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while benefiting from ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.
SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by the European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.
The IRIS2 team enters next project phases, we seek and there is a strong need of support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
You will be part of an agile project organization where a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset is required.
In your Senior Project Manager role, you are supporting the successful acquisition and implementation of the IRIS2 MEO satellite programme by leading programmatic & organizational aspects during competitive tender preparation, negotiation and execution phases.
You are involved in the preparation and supporting negotiation stages with customers and vendors.
You will be responsible for the smooth execution of the Project, keeping track of the timeline, milestones as well as the budget for the scope defined.
You will work closely with technical experts and other stakeholders (e.g. Finance, Procurement, Engineering, Product Managers, operations and others) following strict standards and rules with regards to all relevant activities as well as managing and reporting on project performance criteria along contractual obligations towards internal and external customers.
You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):

Manage the project which includes:
• Coordination of all internal and external resources
• Preparation and negotiation of contract amendments
• Leading and managing project teams: plan, organise and assign tasks and duties within the project team and along with the requirements (such as Engineering or Legal and others) -
Review proposal/contractual documentation: This includes requirements documents, SOW and interpret programmatic plans, as well as reviewing the high-level architecture, functional diagrams drafted by the Technical lead.

Program Planning & Execution: As Project lead, in cooperation with Engineering teams, vendor management and operations, prepare project management plans addressing all PMI dimensions of projects & ensure execution of program objectives

Contract Management: Along institutional contracts milestone plans (e.g. ESA, EC), manage preparation of milestones including (support to) negotiation of contract amendments with Customers as well as (Sub-) Contractors. Furthermore, in cooperation with Supply Chain teams and Engineering teams, identify project (sub-) contractors and vendors, execute RFPs, set-up and manage (sub-) contracts

Resource Management: By using typical PM tools and release management practices: manage documentation, time schedules, requirements, reviews, manpower resource plans, risk register and mitigation plans, communication/reports

Performance Metrics and Reporting: Maintain progress and performance reports as well as dash boards ensuring on time delivery of agreed deliverables as well as action items closure

Communications: Define & communicate within the teams the policies and the usage of professional project management tools as appropriate

Budget Management: In cooperation with Finance team, manage budgets/resources aiming at cost control and cost anticipation/forecasting

Assess and suggest improvement of processes and tools used for the project/program management
YOUR PROFILE
Must have
-
University Degree in either Telecom, IT or Satellite Engineering
-
Minimum 10 years experience in participation (at least partially) in the design, development, implementation, testing, validation and operations of satellite and/or ground systems

Minimum 10 years proven professional experience in project management (waterfall processes preferred) ideally certified by for instance PMI or another similar organization

Proven experience in working with EU, ESA and or national governmental institutions along ECSS standards

Experience in using MS tools including MS Project

Experience in managing Requirements Management tools would be considered as an asset

Fluency in English, both written and spoken, any other European language is considered as an asset
- The candidate must be eligble for a "SECRET" security clearance, in accordance with the "loi modifiée du 15 juin 2004 relative à la classification des pièces et aux habilitations de sécurité", as well as EU/ESA/NATO equivalents
- Willing to work at least 66% onsite from office
Nice to have
- Excellent project management skills, with strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency in English, both oral and written. Other relevant foreign languages an asset
