ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Facilities Engineering to lead our facilities engineering team in Betzdorf and ensure our facilities' smooth operation, maintenance, and improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering, project management, and facilities management background, focusing on optimizing building systems and infrastructure. This role involves overseeing various technical systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, fire protection, and telecommunications, ensuring that all systems operate effectively and efficiently. The Manager of Facilities Engineering collaborates with multiple departments to ensure that the facility meets operational requirements and complies with safety regulations. He/she should have a customer-centric approach to enabling other functions to deliver the best results for SES customers. He/she should have a team-oriented culture for continuously sharing experiences and lessons learned with the rest of the Facilities teams globally. Engineering and project management services can also be offered in international development projects.

PRIMIARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, as well as the installation of all technical systems (power, heating, cool-ing, ventilation, safety, and security) within the Betzdorf facility
  • Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot issues to eliminate downtime and disruptions
  • Execute related full project life cycles - from budgeting (including procurement or development) to the operational 2nd/3rd level support, applying project management principles

Budgeting and Resource Management

  • Evaluate vendors and contractors (in close collaboration with VMP team), negotiate contracts, and over-see service agreements to optimize resource allocation

  • Develop and manage budgets (OPEX / CAPEX) and contribute to project management for other budget owners (CAPEX)

Compliance and Regulations

  • Coordinate inspections with regulatory agencies, inspectors, and auditors to verify compliance and ad-dress any deficiencies promptly

  • Establish/maintain close relations with local authorities (commune, ministries, energy providers) to ensure teleport upgrade and expansion

  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities and risks

Infrastructure Optimization

  • Evaluate new technologies and industry best practices to improve facility operations and reduce operational costs

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize energy usage, reduce costs, and improve facility sustainability

  • Identify and implement energy-efficient technologies and practices, such as lighting upgrades, HVAC system optimizations, and renewable energy solutions

Emergency Response and Disaster Recovery

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to mitigate the impact of unexpected events, such as power outages, equipment failures, or natural disasters

Manage Service Providers

  • Manage outsourcing agreements involving supervision of technicians and craftsmen to ensure quality of service, cost, and maintenance efficiency

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices for critical facilities management
  • Good writing and information condensing skills to produce documents easily understood by stakeholders from different backgrounds.
  • Effective negotiation skills with strong commercial and analytical abilities are considered a valuable asset
  • Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced multinational environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A recognized Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree (BS/MS or similar)
  • 10 years of relevant Engineering experience, working successfully as a Project Manager / Lead Engineer, with experience in the operational environment of critical applications
  • Strong knowledge of critical infrastructure, building systems, and infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools
  • Experience with emergency response planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity management
  • Proven experience in office tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD
  • Fluency in written and oral English and good notions of French and German. Other languages are considered valuable assets.
  • Has integrated into an international environment, is able and willing to travel internationally, and communicates with global peers and customers
