Team Overview:

The Systems Integration and Test team (I&T) is focused on validating, integrating, verifying, and qualifying SOE designs. I&T takes ownership of end-to-end projects and works closely with project teams and customers to learn designs and use cases. Every team member works to understand a wide variety of problems in new or legacy designs and can architect systematic means of implementing & testing solutions. Team members emphasize reusability, automation, and developing hardware and software infrastructure to serve internal and external customers as efficiently as possible.

Job Overview:

As the Test Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the development and maturation of the Integration & Test (I&T) team and discipline at SOE. This will require you to work with senior leadership to develop a roadmap for how the team will grow and drive new core competencies aimed towards the long-term success of SOE, supporting not only execution of projects but also the business development and hiring/training pipelines. You will be responsible for the professional development of the team members, facilitate infrastructure creation and maintenance, and are expected to support the team as an individual contributor and subject matter expert.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and champion a roadmap and expectations geared towards turning the I&T team into an efficient and reliable department for the company
  • Manage, mentor, and guide the I&T team and mature the team’s current core competencies and skill sets
  • Strategically develop and invest in infrastructure that will enable the growth and success of the I&T team
  • Aid in the creation of a hiring pipeline and hiring process for the I&T team
  • Partner with Business Development to identify and assess the scope of new opportunities
  • Collaborate with marketing to classify and showcase SOE’s I&T capabilities
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to set company-wide engineering strategies

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, related field)
  • 5+ years in a technical project management or leadership role in an engineering, production, or R&D environment
  • 2+ years of experience mentoring/ leading engineers through the development of test systems, campaigns, and projects
  • Depth in at least one core engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Software) and an understanding of interfaces to other disciplines
  • Proficiency in executing engineering projects involving end-to-end system design and test program execution
  • Ability to understand technical and business topics for areas outside of immediate expertise by utilizing different strategies (research, first principles, etc.)
  • High level of organization and excellent communications skills
  • Ability to recognize project risk, scope creep, and missing critical requirements
  • Excellent ability to synthesize and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, both internal and external

What Would Be Useful:

  • Experience developing and building custom test systems, planning and executing test campaigns
  • Experience working in a startup/tech/consulting environment, prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities concurrently
  • Versed in testing for aerospace or automotive products; familiarity with aerospace environmental testing such as thermal cycling, vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and EMI/EMC
  • Experience with test HW development (harnessing, fixtures, rack HW, etc.) and/or test SW development
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, and testing of electronics
  • Experience in any common MCAD and ECAD tool

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in El Segundo, California, USA
  • Applicant must be eligible to work on ITAR projects
