We are seeking a Quality & Product Assurance Engineer to lead QA/QC activities at KaleidEO. This role focuses on quality assurance and control of space optical and electronics hardware development for our high-resolution Earth Observation payloads. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with mission-critical quality and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the hardware development cycle and its need to have qualified processes performed by certified engineers and technicians. You will closely work with the engineering and operations teams on the screening of components, qualification of not only the hardware but the processes too while ensuring the schedule and compliance during the development and production of the payloads.

Roles and Responsibilities-
As a QA/QC Engineer, you will be the gatekeeper of quality for our high-performance optical payloads and camera systems. Your mission is to ensure that every component meets the unforgiving standards of the space environment.
  • Hardware & Electronics Inspection: Perform rigorous incoming, in-process, and final quality inspections of PCBAs, mechanical housings, and complex optical assemblies.
  • Environmental Testing Oversight: Lead and supervise critical testing phases including Thermal Vacuum (TVAC), Vibration/Shock, and EMI/EMC testing to ensure survivability in orbit.
  • Cleanroom Management: Enforce and monitor ISO Class 5/7 cleanroom protocols, ensuring strict adherence to contamination control and ESD safety measures during payload integration.
  • Documentation & Traceability: Maintain meticulous Quality Assurance records, including Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Configuration Management for all flight hardware.
  • Standards Compliance: Interpret and implement space-grade standards (MIL-STD, ECSS, ISRO) throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Supplier Quality: Conduct audits and evaluations of vendors to ensure the quality of outsourced space-qualified components and materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4-6 years of industry experience in aerospace / space system with a mix of QA/QC responsibilities preferably in space, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability hardware industries.
Must have:
  • Experience in Electronics QA from either automotive/Aerospace or Rail domain electronics.
  • Strong understanding of space industry standards on development and qualification of hardware and process [MIL/ESA/ISRO/NASA].
  • Proven Experience in Upscreening components for Space/Defense domain.
  • Hands-on exposure to incoming inspection, failure analysis, NCR/CAPA processes, and configuration control.
  • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools (CMM, Verniers, Microscopes) and interpreting complex engineering drawings (GD&T).
  • Strong organizational skill to anticipate, plan, organize and self-monitor workload.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills for effective leadership and team facilitation.
  • 2+ years using MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
Good to have:
  • Space Agency Familiarity: Prior experience working on projects involving ISRO (PA/QC standards), or similiar quality requirements.
  • Optical Knowledge: Understanding of optical metrology, lens alignment checks, or thin-film coating inspection.
  • Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Materials Expertise: Knowledge of outgassing properties, space-grade adhesives, and potting compounds.
  • Software: Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) or ERP software for quality tracking.
  • Able to travel (domestic and international) 5% - 10%
