Geospatial Analyst I
Satelytics is seeking a self-driven, highly motivated, entry-level satellite imagery analyst to join our Data Acquisition team. We seek learners who wish to help us accelerate the advancement of our approach to AI-powered geospatial analytics. We seek dedicated technicians who can help us ensure the integrity, consistency, and accuracy of all data and imagery used to train, validate, and evaluate Satelytics' satellite imagery-based AI models.
This position contributes to the Data Acquisition team in readying imagery and other data for ingestion by our automated, AI-powered analytics engine. This role is entry-level and offers tremendous potential for career growth while providing and excellent training environment. This role will work hand-in-hand with the professional services team, the R&D team, and the data acquisition team, ensuring a solid foundation of data to be analyzed across a wide variety of commercial contracts.

Job Duties
A. Annotation Production
- Create GIS-based annotation layers (polygons, polylines, points) based on satellite imagery.
- Collect field data including but not limited to spectral mapping and sample collection.
- Apply labeling schemas precisely as defined in annotation guidelines.
- Tagg metadata attributes when required (e.g., object class, confidence score, condition).
- Document unusual scenarios, ambiguous cases, and edge objects.
B. Labeling Quality Assurance
- Perform peer reviews of annotations (double-blind or checklist-based).
- Perform validation checks on spatial geometry correctness (topology, overlaps, completeness).
- Ensure that annotations follow data-format standards (GeoJSON, Shapefile, etc.).
C. Model QA & Verification
Evaluate model outputs (experimental runs and production results), including:
- Spot-check model detections and segmentations.
- Confirm alignment between predictions and ground truth.
- Document false positives, false negatives, and systematic failure modes.
D. Documentation & Reporting
- Update annotation guidelines when new object classes or rules are introduced.
- Write QA summaries for each dataset and model run.
- Communicate observed issues to ML engineers or product stakeholders.
E. Workflow & Tooling Support
- Test new annotation tools, GIS plugins, or internal labeling interfaces.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Remote Sensing, Imagery Analysis, GIS, or related field
- 0-2 years of experience in a professional setting
Skills
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Experience using GUI remote sensing and GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ENVI) to manipulate vector and raster data
- Familiarity with remote sensing imagery
- Proficient with standard Microsoft Office apps
- Must exhibit a detail-oriented mindset
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask diverse projects
