What you'll do
The Security and Vetting Coordinator is responsible to the Security Controller for supporting the effective delivery of all security and vetting administration within Viasat. This includes the day-to-day management, coordination, and implementation of security procedures and processes across the business.
Key responsibilities include ensuring on-boarding is completed prior to national security vetting being initiated, and supporting sponsorship administration of clearances as directed. The role also encompasses undertaking any additional security related duties delegated by the Security Controller.
The Vetting and Security Coordinator is expected to manage all tasks promptly, accurately, and in full compliance with policy, liaising effectively with internal teams within Viasat and externally as required.
Given the nature and responsibilities of the role, it is required that the candidate works from the London office, at least 3 days per week.
The day-to-day
- Personnel Security
- Coordinate and support HR for the facilitation of the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) process, ensuring they are accurate, and record retention is compliant with HMG standards.
- Conduct identity verification, document checks for contractors, ensuring accuracy, and legitimacy of documentation before submission to Viasat Security Admin team.
- Initiate and coordinate clearance in all aspects, including applications/transfers, renewals, reporting, and all aftercare monitoring/tracking, connecting with partners and the UKSV as directed by the Security Controller.
- Respond to security incidents, anomalies, or vetting related concerns that require on site assessment, containment or escalation.
- Support the Security Controller in the management and oversight of Lenel authorisation, including on-boarding and offboarding of personnel, badge issuance, and return of credentials
- Provide virtual or in-person inductions and briefings, particularly for cleared staff, new starters, and those requiring refreshed guidance.
- Act as on-site point of contact for personnel security matters, including the secure handling, verification, and control of sensitive related documents and records.
- Provide security awareness through updates and regular communication channels, updating information SharePoint, and compliant with HMG policy.
- Support the Security Controller in the management of bookings and access into security related space.
- Compliance, Governance & Security
- Support the Security Controller in maintaining up to date security polices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and guidance documents.
- Maintain and audit secure storage locations (e.g. cabinets, restricted rooms) used for sensitive material, ensuring compliance with internal and external security policies.
- Coordinate access to controlled areas, ensuring that only appropriately authorised individuals are granted access in line with policy and procedure.
- Conduct spot checks and assurance activities within controlled areas to verify compliance and mandated security requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee security processes on site, including badge printing, providing pass access for authorised individuals.
- Maintain, review, and update the Personnel Security Risk Register and contribute to mitigation planning.
- Liaise directly with Facilities, IT, and third-party security team to resolve access issues, on-boarding delays, and security incidents that require escalation or intervention to the Security Controller.
What you'll need
- Must hold or be eligible for SC clearance, with the ability to handle classified material.
- Knowledge of current UK Government and Defence security procedures, knowledge of the Security Policy Framework, GovS007 and ISO27001.
- Understanding of security vetting and threats to an organisation’s security and integrity.
- Communicate well orally and in writing, to external and internal customers.
- Can maintain records accurately and in such a way that information can be easily accessed and analysed when appropriate.
- Be available to work on-site in our London office, at least 3 days per week.
