What you'll do
The Tactical Communications Systems group seeks a Senior Level Project Engineer who is expert in Systems and Terminal Design with specific experience in the BFT and L-Band. The Project Engineer will provide architecture and design guidance for various software, hardware, and prototyping programs. A background in Programmable Logic, Modem HW & SW design, Test, Terminal certification and a work history of the BFT-2 program are required.
The day-to-day
- Provide consulting on the development various TCS programs including L-Band waveform porting, SATCOM transceiver prototyping, and BFT-2 Aviation System implementation.
- Project engineer provides guidance on the design, development, production, test, and sustaining of complex systems or products.
- Works with multi-functional teams (Systems, Software, Hardware, Firmware, Mechanical, Security, Quality and Operations) to evaluate the design.
- Serve as “the” technical resource to interdisciplinary teams and management.
- Technically support proposals, whitepapers, and customer support.
- Guide development, testing, system performance, environmental and system troubleshooting.
- Support planning the development activities.
- Support technical design and reviews.
- Mentor and coach mid-career engineers.
- Support definition of security, performance, product requirements and work with validation lab supporting engineering validation/verification product testing.
- Support execution of objectives including schedule, milestones, and technical performance.
- Support research and development of new technologies, platforms, and tools.
- Understand hardware, software, firmware interactions, and collaborate with hardware, software, firmware, mechanical, test and security engineers.
- Advise on requirements decomposition, allocation and integration on target with hardware, software, firmware mechanical, test and security engineers.
- Support investigations into root cause analysis of hardware, software and firmware defects and resolve the defects as a Subject Matter Expert.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Graduate’s Degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science with 20 years of hands-on product design, development, integration and successful verification experience.
- Substantial and proven experience in High Assurance or secure communications architectures, design and product lifecycles.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills at a technical and business user level.
- Experience supporting technical proposal efforts including requirements decomposition and verification techniques, architectural design, product definition and description as well as estimation.
- United States Citizenship required.
- DoD SECRET clearance.

Salary range
$194,000.00 - $306,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $241,000.00- $362,000.00/ annually
