What you'll do

Our legal team provides strategic legal support to the company’s satellite telecommunications operations. We ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, draft and review contracts, manage risk, and support business initiatives related to satellite communications, spectrum management, and international regulations. Additionally, we collaborate closely with internal departments to address legal challenges and support the company’s growth and innovation in the sector.

By joining our legal team, the candidate will gain hands-on experience in satellite telecommunications law, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiations. They will have the opportunity to work on real cases involving spectrum allocation, international agreements, and industry regulations. The intern will also interact with various stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, external legal firms, and business units, gaining exposure to the complexities of the satellite industry. This experience will provide a solid foundation for a career in telecommunications law, technology law, or corporate legal advisory.

The candidate will apply legal research skills to analyze regulations and case law related to satellite communications. They will use contract drafting and review abilities to assist in preparing agreements, NDAs, and compliance documents. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills will be essential for assessing risks and regulatory challenges. Additionally, communication and teamwork skills will be crucial for collaborating with internal teams, external counsel, and government authorities.


The day-to-day

  • Legal Research & Analysis: Conducting research on laws related to regulatory, contracts, corporate and taxes matters
  • Contract Review & Drafting: Assisting in the preparation and review of NDAs, service agreements, and compliance documents.
  • Regulatory Compliance Support: Monitoring changes in telecommunications laws and preparing summaries or reports for the legal team.
  • Risk Assessment: Identifying potential legal risks in business operations and helping develop mitigation strategies.
  • Meetings & Collaboration: Participating in meetings with commercial teams, engineers, specialists, and external legal counsels to support business objectives.
Throughout the internship, the candidate will receive mentorship and hands-on experience in the legal challenges of a high-tech industry, making this an excellent opportunity for professional growth in technology law.


What you'll need

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Law/enrolled in a law degree program, preferably in the middle years of study.
  • Legal Research Skills – Ability to conduct legal research using national and international sources.
  • Ability to work 20-30 hours/week in a hybrid format
  • Ability to work in person 3 days per week in person at the Viasat office (Sao Paolo) during business hours
  • Brazilian citizenship required

Additional Requirements:

  • Basic Knowledge of Contract Law – Understanding of contract structure and fundamental legal principles.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency – Experience using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
