What you'll do
Our team is passionate about using data to improve service performance, optimize network capacity, and improve customer experience. We are seeking a Data Analyst Intern to support our Capacity Management and Pre-Sales teams, helping us to make data-driven decisions that power our business.
The day-to-day
Data Collection & Cleaning:
- Assist in extracting data from databases, APIs, satellite usage metrics, etc
- Perform data wrangling and cleaning to ensure datasets are accurate, complete, and ready for analysis.
- Collaborate with team members to identify data quality issues
Capacity Management Support:
- Analyze network capacity data to monitor and forecast bandwidth usage, satellite channel availability, and traffic demand.
- Support in generating reports to assess the current and future capacity needs for satellite communication infrastructure.
- Develop insights to optimize network usage and recommend actions to prevent congestion or underutilization.
Pre-Sales Analytics:
- Collaborate with the Pre-Sales team to prepare data-driven proposals, forecasts, and customer insights.
- Create custom reports and dashboards to support sales activities, including customer segmentation, product recommendations, and sales performance metrics.
- Analyze market data and customer usage patterns to help with new product offerings and pricing models.
Data Visualization & Reporting:
- Use Tableau to create intuitive, interactive dashboards and reports
- Assist in creating visualizations to highlight key performance indicators, metrics, trends, and potential areas for improvement.
What you'll need
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, IT, economics (with quantitative focus) or related field
- Ability to work 20-30 hours/week in a hybrid format, in person 3 days per week in person at the Viasat office (São Paulo) during business hours
- English language proficiency- written and oral
- Brazilian citizenship required
Additional Requirements:
- Python: Basic to intermediate experience with data manipulation and analysis using Python (pandas, numpy, etc.).
- SQL: Comfortable writing complex queries to extract and analyze data from relational databases.
- Analytical Approach: Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for deriving actionable insights from data.
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings
- Teamwork: Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
What will help you on the job
- Data Visualization: Experience using Tableau or other data visualization tools to present datasets in an accessible way.
- Data Orchestration: Familiarity with Airflow or other orchestration tools
- Experience with satellite communication data or related industries.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Basic knowledge of machine learning or statistical analysis
- Exposure to network capacity management or telecommunications
