What you'll do

Viasat is looking for an experienced Global Sourcing Manager to join our Government Supply Chain team. In this exciting role, you will work with cross-functional teams to support new and ongoing programs and manage Requests for Quote, Statement of Work development, pricing & contract negotiations, procuring goods, managing key suppliers, participate in the Sales & Operations Planning process, and analyze performance metrics. Your forward-thinking and ability to think outside the box will come into play as you develop, manage, and implement effective sourcing strategies based on customer requirements and technology trends. Your excellent communication skills and ability to drive results and influence key stakeholders will allow you to communicate and assess daily issues, including engineering changes, to meet the needs of the business and easily interact with division leaders. In addition, you will also establish and foster effective strategic supplier relationships to ensure performance and timely resolution of issues and negotiate and administer optimal terms with suppliers that consider cost, quality and supply continuity in support of unique program requirements.


The day-to-day

As Viasat’s Global Sourcing Manager you will lead and manage Supply Chain strategies for procurement categories of specialized products in support of satellite antenna products. You will also lead the material sourcing strategy and execution for specific programs and products. You’ll partner with other functional department leaders to establish strategic objectives and provide direction to resolve key sourcing issues. You will work on complex functional projects requiring detailed knowledge of standard methodologies for sourcing and procurement. Being a self-starter and having the ability to communicate across all levels internal to Viasat as well as externally with our vendors will be vital to the success of this position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal customers to ensure sourcing strategies are aligned with program objectives
  • Lead key Supply Chain projects
  • Support growth, scalability, and manufacturing capacity activities with suppliers
  • Ensure early and active involvement with projects to source new suppliers and processes
  • Issue RFPs, negotiate, evaluate, down-select, and execute contract agreements and purchase orders
  • Facilitate supplier business reviews and maintain strategic relationships

What you'll need

  • 5-10+ years directly applicable Supply Chain experience
  • Strong industry experience in Government sourcing/procurement
  • Experience with contract management, project management, and supplier relationship management
  • Proven experience with detailed data analysis leading to strategic sourcing recommendations and decisions.
  • Strategic Sourcing skills: SOW Development, Request for Quote/Proposal/Information, Total Cost of Ownership analysis and Supplier Development
  • Experience with negotiating supplier agreements and leveraging of Terms & Conditions for competitive advantage
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt, improve processes, and find solutions.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills including the ability to influence all levels of internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with MS Office and Major ERP System, including Web-Based Supplier Interface
  • Bachelor’s Degree with focus in Technical Operations, Business, Supply Chain, or related experience
  • US citizenship
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Salary range

$100,000.00 - $142,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $121,500.00- $164,500.00/ annually
