What you'll do

The primary purpose of this role is to drive the creation of and closure of significant revenue generating opportunities in the Government Aviation Sector. You will be an SME for Government Aviation market and will passionately communicate the benefits and advantages of both in-cabin and cock-pit connectivity utilising Inmarsat core services to end users, partners and employees alike. You will possess a deep understanding of Aviation market. You will engage directly with end-user, partners, key suppliers and OEM’s to position Viasat International Government capability in order to build a high quality pipeline of opportunities, and drive those opportunities through to closure to meet in year financial targets and long term revenue growth.


The day-to-day

  • Develop and implement a multi-year plan of business development activities that will support substantial growth in pipeline, revenue and market share in the MRTT, HoS, Helo and ISR markets including, but not limited to, end user engagements activities, identifying and engaging with key capability partners and attending industry events.
  • Develop and implement a multi-year plan of business development activities to engage with Aviation platform OEM’s to substantially increase the selection of Viasat capable terminals for line fit.
  • Liaise with Viasat business units unit and other internal departments to ensure that Viasat's Aviation activities are co-ordinated and that Global Government interests are represented.
  • Manage both in year and long term opportunities from initial lead to closure with the development of actionable and effective capture plans that utilize the most optimal delivery channels.
  • Establish relationships with end-users to position Viasat capability and influence future procurements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with selected supporting organizations which will allow positioning of Viasat capability and facilitate access to end-user customers (such as trade bodies or industry associations or OEMs)
  • Support account management activities for strategic Aviation accounts as required to meet Aviation Sector, and wider team financial goals.
  • Work with the Product management and commercial functions to develop new products and that will address market requirements, using your industry expertise to support the production of compelling new product introduction business cases.
  • Contribute to the development of compelling value propositions for the Viasat offerings and work with marketing department to have them produced into marketing materials (slides, brochures, case studies, videos)
  • Become internally and internationally recognized as a leader in the Aviation community by building a network of contacts and participating in trade shows and conferences
  • Production of timely activity reports, revenue forecasts utilizing SalesForce.com and supporting commentary
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably required

What you'll need

  • Degree educated in a relevant field.
  • 10 years’ experience of Business Development/Sales within the Aviation industry
  • Have a Sales focused attitude.
  • Demonstrable experience engaging with and developing relationships with Government end users, preferably related to End user Aviation activities.
  • Must be able to obtain a United Kingdom Security Clearance
  • UK Citizenship or EU (27) Citizenship required
