What you'll do
Provide the Director, Finance with a comprehensive financial reporting and financial management capability; both directly, and by drawing on the shared services provided elsewhere within the Finance organisation.
Act as the primary interface to the Group finance organisation on all matters related Accounting, Forecasting and Budgeting within the Maritime business unit.
Ensure that the operations of the team are well coordinated with the wider Group, taking advantage of alignment opportunities and ensuring that the Maritime team works seamlessly and constructively with the rest of the Group.
The day-to-day
- Take a lead role to ensure that the actual financial and operational results of the BU are provided to the BU management team on an accurate and timely basis together with a concise, action orientated, business focused commentary
- Take a lead role in developing and implementing BI requirements for the Maritime BU working closely with the Insights, Analytics &Reporting team (IAR) and other Group finance functions
- Support the Director, Finance to proactively provide constructive, high quality commercially focused financial analysis to the BU President and SLT to help deliver optimal operational performance through high quality strategic and tactical business decisions
- Support the Director, Finance to ensure that the Maritime BU has in place an up to date, high quality full year forecast that reflects all relevant material issues and business plans, is prepared on a timely basis, shows the road map by which the required full year results will be delivered, and which is owned by BU line management
- Support the Director, Finance to ensure that the Maritime BU has in place a high-quality Strategic Plan and Budget that reflects all relevant material issues and business plans, is consistent with and delivers the results required by the Strategic Plan for the BU and Group, is prepared on a timely basis and is owned by BU line management
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Operations teams to provide insightful data/analysis, improving their efficiency in their roles.
- Support all teams within the BU with any ad hoc financial requirements that they have – to ensure consistency and accuracy with the figures being presented
- Offer support in creating compelling cases for significant business and commercial choices within the Maritime BU.
- Support the Finance team with any potential Maritime BU transaction activities, including strategic partner deals and other M&A activities
What you'll need
- Graduate or equivalent with a professional accounting or finance qualification, ideally from a ‘Big-4’ accounting firm
- Significant stable and progressive experience in finance, acting at international level and with high quality companies. At least 3 years of commercial finance experience
- Demonstrated expertise as a commercial / business partner for material revenue generating business divisions
- Proven ability to develop trusted and appropriately influential relationships with senior executives.
- Commercially astute, technically strong and influential with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
- Exceptional analytical and Excel skills coupled with good strategic business understanding leading to key business insight
- Proficiency and track record in leading Finance and cross functional processes and implementing standard methodology
