As an Offshore Telecom Technician, you will provide skilled intervention on offshore customer assets for; installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Viasat solutions for our Oil & Gas customer base.  You will be responsible for completion of the offshore scope of work to a successful conclusion with support from the associated onshore engineering and operations stakeholders whilst proactively resolving situational problems across the range of Company services. You will have strong practical knowledge of Company core services and technologies with  related manufacturer equipment encompassing: marine & land satellite services, Radio (UHF, VHF, LTE & LOS), Rig telecoms (including Paga & CCTV) systems. You will support the Aberdeen office Build & Test Technician on an ad hoc basis, where required, to support customer delivery schedules as well as completing all the site documentation as requested and within operations policies.

A successful candidate will have a strong back ground in offshore Oil & Gas Telecom work and have the opportunity to develop VSAT for both fixed and stabilized system to augment their skill set if the experience is lacking. You will utilize your knowledge of offshore Telecoms systems from a maintenance background to support maintenance of client Telecom infrastructure - likely from a previous offshore Telecom technician role.  The implications are to support the Client production and drilling operations in a safe and efficient way thus providing support for client operations and profitability. You will also have the opportunity to work with a variety of support staff.

• Carry out scheduled maintenance and fault investigations on client telecoms systems and equipment Radio systems ( UHF VHF hand held & repeater radios), PAGA, CCTV, entertainment ( TVRO Distribution & Head end Systems )
• Carry out EX inspections in line with client and UK procedures
• Carry maintenance & survey for PAGA & CCTV systems 
• Carry out fibre umbilical cable installation & test to documented standards
• VSAT Installation, commissioning and fault finding of satellite based communication & TVRO systems to encompass fixed and stabilised systems at Ka, Ku & C band 
• LTE & LOS system installation, commissioning and troubleshooting 
• Site Local Lan Network installation, commissioning and troubleshooting 
• Offshore dispatches are adhoc based – no shift pattern

• 5 years of experience in a offshore Oil & Gas telecommunication role 
• Related telecommunications certifications (Networking, Satellite, PAGA, Fibre including umbilical) supporting the technical requirements of the position with proven work experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent
• Proven Installation, troubleshooting & commissioning of any of the following areas: associated Electrical & Electronic Telecommunications equipment at customer site locations, primary communications systems relating to Satellite, LOS, LTE and TVRO customer site equipment,  or other manufacture system or commission of cable infrastructure for Fibre (splicing, otdr, umbilical cable management). Training will be provided for all disciplines
• Demonstrated delivery of maintenance in PAGA, CCTV, Radio and associated offshore telecoms 
• Certifications in ATEX & Telecom Systems training 

• HND or Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Communications, Computer related discipline or relevant experience
• Capable of working under pressure and the ability to multi-task effectively both independently and within a team
• Competent in reading Electrical & Network diagrams, required documentation associated with the scope of work, associated installation and test equipment.
• Effective communication to line manager, Project manager (external & internal) and client stakeholders
• Ability to listen & interpret instructions for problem solving in a pressured environment Flexible and willing to meet customer requirements Experience with standard MS Office applications
• CompEX certified and Offshore Certification
• Travel may be required locally and internationally
