Senior Procurement Manager

ReOrbit is looking for a Senior Procurement Manager to join the team at our HQ in Helsinki, Finland or UK. We are looking for an experienced, strategic, relationship-driven individual who is proactive and confident in building supply chain partnerships.

As Senior Procurement Manager you’ll help develop the day-to-day and strategic procurement operations for high-value, long-lead, and mission-critical parts. You’ll drive supplier performance, improve internal procurement processes, and work cross-functionally to ensure materials and components are where they need to be—on time, on budget, and to spec.

As we are a scaling company, you will also be hands-on, developing sourcing strategies, managing vendor contracts and collecting requirements by collaborating closely with ReOrbit’s engineers and operations teams to understand specifications and ensure the procurement and qualification of goods and services for our missions. You will also play a key role in scaling procurement operations to support increasing production and launch cadence.

This position reports to the Head of Procurement and is based in Helsinki, Finland or London, UK.

It's an exciting chance to join a dynamic start-up, with the opportunity to make a real impact, to reach our goal of pushing the boundaries of space data transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement processes
    • Drive sourcing, RFQs, PO management, and delivery tracking to meet production and program timelines.
    • Maintain close oversight of part status, material flow, and supplier lead times in alignment with build schedules.
    • Manage end-to-end procurement activities for flight hardware, electronics, custom builds, ground equipment and critical services.
    • Demonstrate good quality processes by example
  • Supplier Management & Negotiation

    • Own relationships with key suppliers, ensuring consistent performance, communication, and issue resolution.
    • Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times for both one-off and repeat buys, focusing on long-term value.
    • Work with suppliers to pre-qualify components, reduce risk, and establish backup sources where needed.
  • Cross-functional Coordination

    • Work daily with engineering, production, finance, and logistics teams to align procurement actions with project milestones.
    • Participate in design reviews, production planning, and readiness meetings to anticipate supply needs early.
    • Ensure alignment of procurement efforts with cost targets, quality standards, and mission timelines.
  • Risk & Compliance

    • Monitor part criticality, sole-source risk, and material availability; proactively identify and mitigate risks.
    • Ensure compliance with trade and export control regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR).
    • Maintain procurement documentation and supplier performance records for internal and external audits.
  • Scaling for Growth

    • Help design and implement scalable procurement processes and systems to support multiple concurrent satellite builds and launches.
    • Identify operational bottlenecks and lead improvements in sourcing speed, cost control, and delivery reliability.
    • Support the onboarding and development of tools, dashboards, and ERP integrations that improve visibility and control.

Skills and Requirements

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in the supply chain of space or a similar hardware focused low-volume environment.
  • Proven success managing high-value or long-lead procurement in fast-paced or startup-like operations.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Hands-on familiarity with ERP systems and procurement tools.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills—able to handle detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity, tight timelines, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • You can manage multiple projects simultaneously, plan, delegate, and evaluate progress towards goals.
  • You excel in problem-solving, enabling you to address issues with products or services that do not meet quality standards.
  • You have demonstrated success in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, small-team environment and can manage competing priorities.
  • It is expected that you will need to travel internationally for 25% - 50% of your time to build effective relationships.

Preferred (but not essential)

  • GEO specific procurement experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
