Team:
The Integrated Performance department at Relativity Space is responsible for ensuring that our rockets will achieve our overall objectives and satisfy stringent customer and government requirements. Our department comprises teams responsible for Flight Sciences, including Aerodynamics, Thermal, Loads, and Dynamics; Integrated Structures Analysis; Guidance, Navigation, and Control & Vehicle Performance (GNCP); Systems Engineering; Mission Reliability; and Product Engineering. We architect and execute analysis, simulation, operations, and test projects for all of Relativity’s hardware and software teams in pursuit of mission success. This is an entry-level technical role in the GNC & Performance team within the Integrated Performance department. We have multiple roles available in each of our three sub-teams: GNC, Vehicle Performance, and GNC Simulation. Day to day, Simulation Engineers work on design, analysis, and tools development projects across every launch system, from launch pads to engines to avionics and beyond.
What you’ll do:
- Integrate multi-disciplinary tools together to build system level simulations
- Design customer missions using trajectory optimization tools
- Prototype and test flight GNC algorithms
- Develop software to accelerate running, post processing and analyzing simulation data for verifying vehicle performance
- Perform analysis to propose future vehicle upgrades and architectural changes
- Design, develop, analyze and test GNC algorithms for Terran R ascent and entry, descent, and landing
- Perform software- and hardware-in-the-loop testing with partner teams like Avionics and Flight Software
What you need to know:
- An undergraduate degree in engineering or related field and practical engineering experience, e.g., from project teams, internships, or research labs
- Passion for launch vehicles and spacecraft
- Experience solving challenging technical problems with simulation in teams
- Proficiency with Python
Nice to haves but not required:
- A graduate degree (MS/PhD) in engineering or related field
- Familiarity with launch vehicles and liquid rocket propulsion
- Proficiency in C++
