Your Mission:
We are building agile, high-performance satellites to deliver outstanding electro-optical Earth observation missions. As an Optical Payload Systems Engineer, you will ensure that advanced optical payloads are seamlessly integrated, meet performance targets, and satisfy customer needs.

  • Define, manage, and validate system-level and payload-level requirements and interfaces for optical payloads.
  • Perform system-level analyses, trade-offs, and platform pointing studies (including micro-vibrations) to ensure payload performance within satellite constraints.
  • Serve as the main technical point of contact for customers providing their own payloads, ensuring alignment with mission and system needs.
  • Challenge, coordinate, and monitor subcontractors developing optical payloads to ensure compliance with mission, system, and payload requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with systems engineering, platform subsystems, AIT, and operations teams to secure seamless payload integration and functionality.
  • Supervise AIT planning as well as the integration, alignment, and testing of payloads during integration activities.
  • Support the engineering team throughout all mission phases, from material selection to mission operations planning and in-orbit commissioning.
  • Prepare and maintain clear, consistent technical documentation and interface control documents
Your Background:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Solid knowledge of electro-optical systems, requirements engineering, and space environment effects on optical performance.
  • Proven experience in mechanical, thermal, and electrical integration of payloads, including tolerance management and thermal/electrical interfaces.
  • Skilled in managing technical interfaces and requirements with customers and suppliers, including moderating change processes.
  • Familiar with materials science and structural mechanics for selecting materials, mass budgeting, and vibration behavior.
  • Proficient with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX) and has understanding of optical analysis tools like Zemax.
  • Good grasp of satellite systems engineering, payload testing, and experience in AIT/integration (clean room and testing experience is a plus).
  • Additional experience with payload alignment and metrology is an advantage.
What We Offer:
