About the Role
The Machinist & Shop Hand keeps our R&D shop running and turns ideas into hardware. You will own tool and machine readiness, material prep, and hands-on fabrication (CNC, welding, 3-D printing). When the line is quiet, you’ll train on new processes—Fusion 360 CAM, Onshape, forklift/scissor-lift, etc.—so you can tackle the next challenge.
Responsibilities
Shop organization: Drive 5S, label/storage systems, and consumables inventory.
Equipment readiness: Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on CNC mills, printers, welders, air systems, and hand tools.
Fabrication: Machine, weld, or 3-D print parts, jigs, and fixtures from metal, plastic, or composites per engineering drawings.
Material handling: Receive, cut, kit, and stage raw stock; operate forklift & scissor-lift.
Continuous improvement: Build new tooling and workflows; flag design or manufacturability issues to engineers.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years in a fabrication, machine-shop, or maintenance role
Proficiency with common hand/power tools; ability to read mechanical drawings
Able to lift 50 lb and work on ladders or lifts
Preferred Qualifications
CNC mill/router operation & CAM programming (Fusion 360 or similar)
MIG/TIG welding experience
Forklift or MEWP certification
Exposure to aerospace or ISO-9001 quality environments
Training & Growth
Full-time employees receive paid training on CNC operation, Fusion/Onshape CAD/CAM, forklift & scissor-lift certs, and other up-skilling courses scheduled during normal work hours.
Even if you don't meet 100% of the above qualifications, we are likely still interested in hearing from you. Hiring exceptional individuals is our #1 priority, and we believe that exceptional people often have highly unusual backgrounds.
We are also interested in carving out unique roles for unconventional people that we are excited about working with.
