About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on deployables, you will entirely own the design, analysis and prototyping of high-performance mechanisms that deploy our first in-space reflectors. The ideal candidate will have engineering experience with structures, spacecraft and composites.
Responsibilities
Design our first deployable satellite mechanisms, from concept to in-space performance validation
Perform analysis that supports design decisions including hand calcs, finite element analysis, dynamics and vibration analysis
Iterate and prototype frequently to ground designs in reality and characterize performance
Test and validate structural components and designs for flight readiness
Come up with creative solutions to novel problems that surround precisely putting a spot of reflected sunlight on the ground from space
Ideal Qualifications
Strong analytical command of structures design
Prior experience designing, developing and qualifying high performance, mass optimized structures
Experience with composites design and fabrication
Familiarity with deployable composite structure mechanisms for space
