About The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer focused on actuation, you'll be responsible for the ground up design of novel low-cost, high reliability mechanisms that are critical to the deployment and pointing operation of our reflectors.

Responsibilities

Deeply understand actuation concept trade space
Own clean sheet electromechanical actuator design, from concept to production
Design for high reliability in the space environment
Iteratively refine designs through analysis, prototyping and testing
Spec/design, integrate space-rated electric motors
Keep designs functional and low-cost

Ideal Qualifications

You've been previously responsible for in-space actuators or mechanisms
You're intimately familiar with the use of motors, servos and rotating hardware in space
You've seen mechanisms in space fail and you have a deep understanding of why they failed
You have strengths in standard mechanical engineering analysis, with a tilt towards electronics design and integration, and like owning a lot of design work.
You’re open to improving upon the current state of space hardware and changing the “way things are.”
