Rappi is seeking an exceptional Senior Director, Strategy & Operations to lead our global Recommender System product operation. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing the end-to-end Rappi personalization system which organizes > 250,000 merchants across 9 countries for millions of customers. You will be at the center of our operational excellence, driving strategic initiatives that directly impact millions of customers and thousands of merchants across Latam.As part of Rappi, you will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
Recommendation System product operations
Balance the use of placements and capital allocation by Merchants and Rappi to maximize a) conversion, b) long term value through growth and revenue, both commission and advertisement, and c) ops efficiencies such as shortened fleet costs
Lead comprehensive strategy and operations for Rappi's recommendation system
Optimize performance of 200,000 restaurants, 50,000 retailers and thousands of maker products measured by conversion and sales retention
Partner directly with Product and Engineering leadership teams to develop quarterly roadmaps connecting to experimentation to drive decisions to optimize for the three objectives.
Own go-to-market strategy for new products to ensure full value capture, including KPIs, product analytics, marketing, and continuous feedback across Consumer App, Merchants and Operations teams
Quality & Process Excellence
Establish continuous feedback loops and improvement frameworks to enhance customer and merchant experience
Lead data-driven initiatives to maximize value through conversion, ad revenue and order share to high retention merchants while minimizing operational inefficiencies (distance traveled by the courier fleet)
Cross-Functional Program Management
Direct PMO initiatives involving 5+ Rappi teams including RecSys, Search, Merchant and Consumer App Products, their Engineering teams and Merchant Commercial functions
Coordinate strategic projects across 9+ countries, ensuring alignment and execution excellence with central and local teams including exposure to country general managers
Optimize App placement efficiency based on business objectives for Rappi and each country
Strategic Planning & Performance Management
Develop comprehensive measurement systems and KPI frameworks for personalization
Lead bi-weekly CXO interactions to provide visibility and drive decision making
Facilitate quarterly business reviews to drive strategic alignment across international teams
Analyze market trends and operational data to inform long-term strategic planning
What We're Looking For
Experience & Background
8+ years in data product and technology organizations, including 4+ years in senior leadership positions
Proven track record leading construction, release and iteration of data / ML centric products (preferably recommendation or affinity products with a native advertisement component)
Experience managing data teams including Data Science and Machine Learning capabilities
Data Science experience and AI experience considered a key plus
Background in fast-paced, high-growth technology companies or consulting
Leadership & Strategic Skills
Demonstrated ability to drive measurable business impact (cost savings, efficiency improvements, quality enhancements)
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience in data-driven decision making
Excellent stakeholder management skills, including executive-level communication and presentation abilities
Experience with agile methodologies and working closely with Product and Engineering teams
Product Experience
Understanding of affinity and personalization in a marketplace setting preferred
Experience in leading and interacting with experimentation teams preferred
Familiarity with international business operations and cross-cultural team management
Personal Attributes
Resilient and entrepreneurial mindset with ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
Strong bias toward action and results, with proven ability to execute complex initiatives across Data and Engineering teams
Exceptional communication skills in Spanish; English proficiency is a plus
Willingness to travel internationally and work across multiple time zones
