Quest Defense Systems and Solutions (QDSS) is seeking an experienced Aerospace Project Manager to lead cross-functional engineering initiatives supporting aviation component and mechanical systems programs.
In this role, you will coordinate efforts across teams to ensure the program is executed efficiently, risks are addressed early, and projects are delivered on schedule and to the highest quality standards.
This position plays a critical role in driving program execution, problem-solving, and continuous improvement across the organization. The Aerospace Project Manager will lead issue resolution efforts, facilitate root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities, and ensure strong communication across stakeholders through executive reporting and project updates.
Due to the nature of the work you will perform, all applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be in or willing to relocate to Rocky Mount, NC.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Collaboration and Team Building:
- Cultivate a collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork across various departments.
- Implement team-building strategies to enhance cooperation and communication.
- Project Documentation and Issue Management:
- Maintain meticulous records of project issues and resolutions.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project charters that include scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Project Communication:
- Provide periodic updates through executive report-outs, email communications, and PowerPoint presentations to stakeholders.
- Ensure the timely communication of project status, risks, and issues to all relevant parties.
- On-Site Engagement and Feedback Extraction:
- Regularly visit the Gemba (actual work site) to observe work processes firsthand.
- Extract feedback from team members to identify areas of improvement and address any challenges promptly.
- Accountability and Performance:
- Drive accountability by setting clear expectations and benchmarks for team performance.
- Utilize metrics to track progress and enforce accountability.
- Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, and Mistake Proofing:
- Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) initiatives to address project challenges and prevent recurrence.
- Drive mistake-proofing initiatives to minimize errors and enhance quality.
- Process Flows and Documentation:
- Develop and maintain detailed process flows to ensure clarity and efficiency in project operations.
- PFMEA and Control Plans:
- Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify potential failures and devise mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain control plans to ensure high-quality outputs and consistent project execution.
- Executive Reporting:
- Prepare concise and informative executive reports and presentations for periodic updates.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in engineering project management or a similar role.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using project management and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ability in fostering collaboration and team-building efforts.
- Competence in managing project documentation and issue resolution.
- Expertise in preparing and delivering executive-level presentations.
- Strong analytical skills to drive problem-solving, RCCA processes, mistake proofing, and process documentation.
- Experience with PFMEA and control plan development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing mechanical and component systems in aviation
- Experience working with manufacturing operations
- Experience with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
