FPGA/HW Engineer to join a team developing a new control system platform for nuclear power plants. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of energy innovation and sustainability. You'll design and improve FPGAs and PCBs/CCAs for Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Electronic Systems used in in both existing nuclear facilities as well as new Small Modular Reactor (SMR) offerings. Additionally, you'll design and implement test fixtures, test tools, and simulations utilized in the development of these systems. This role lets you use advanced technology to solve real-world problems, aiding the shift to cleaner energy. Job Responsibilities:
• Primary focus on FPGA development, simulation, integration and testing
• Secondary focus on engineering test fixtures, test tools and simulations utilized in the development of I&C Electronic Systems
• Preparing design and test specifications, developing test hardware/software, executing informal and formal test campaigns
• Own or support PCB board-level designs including schematics, layout, part selection, and documentation
• Performing Code Reviews and verifications of Design Specifications and Reports
• Support board bring-up and lab integration testing activities
• Troubleshoot hardware issues in partnership with environmental test engineers; be present during testing to assist in real-time fault resolution
• Collaborate closely with systems and software teams to ensure electrical design meets overall system requirements
Required Skills:
• 5+ years’ experience in HW/FPGA design verification and validation
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related disciplines.
• Requires technical problem solving, strong hardware design skills, and communication skills.
• Experience with coding conventions, unit testing and integration testing of software
• Experience with PCB design (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, etc.), signal analysis and system verification tools (Altium, PSpice, SystemVerilog, UVM, etc.)
• Experience with common HDL languages and PLD/FPGA development tools (Quartus, Vivado, ModelSim, Questa, etc.).
• Ability to interpret and implement system-level requirements into board-level designs.
• Familiar with FPGA design flow
• System Verilog & VHDL (do not need to be an expert, but need familiarity)
• UVM
• Test bench development
• Simulation, debug, and root cause skills
• Versed in industry standard simulation environment
• Familiar with DAL-A verification methodologies
• PCB layout and mechanical design
• Must be self-motivated and have initiative to reach out an interact with the existing team
